Helm's Deep Dirty Dozen

Msommi 1

Description

Fellowship for Helm's Deep scenario in multiplayer epic mode. It was my first attempt at multiple deck building and I thoroughly enjoyed doing it. Interactions between decks can generate very strong plays. This fellowship takes some of the strongest archetypes in the game and makes them even stronger due to the many interactions. It tooks some time to find a good balance and many precious tips from the super expert player Walter. This combination is capable of turning some of the worse events into favourable situations. The main strategy is building a tower of attachments onto Grimbeorn, enabling him to respond multiple times from start. He is in charge of tackling the most challenging attacks from staging area such as those of Warriors of Dunland and soldiers of Isengard, both of which can be killed in one shot with his response and a Dagger of Westernesse. Clearing those big guns before questing is of great help. The other power play is based on directing arrows onto beornings, and then converting them into resources to load on Grimbeorn. Synergy between Noldors and Beornings is strong. Worth noting, are also the nine "Test of Will", which are there ONLY to cancel the Devilry of Saruman, and the stargazers and zigil miners to tackle the dreadful burden:"poisoned counsels". Dwarves benefit greatly from having the extra character in setup, also making it possible for a very strong first turn "a very good tale",ideally with Gimli. This fellowship was tested officially at LudiCG convention in Milan on the 5th of may 2024. Performance was exceptional, due also to a lucky start of all decks. Our table was able to quest for 46 on first round, never lost a character, lost only 1 deeping Wall and put only 3 advancements on quest 2 as we chose not to cancel a "Devilry" that came at end of combat phase. unfortunately other tables were not so lucky and the Helm's Deep fell at end of turn 6. Looking forward to testing it again, till victory is reached.
