Devaresh 2017

Na'asiyah is an interesting hero from Fantasy Flight because she doesn’t really fit anywhere thematically in Middle Earth. This deck is constructed around the concept of her taking up mercenary work and eventually being paid to extract some hobbits of importance from the Shire.

How does it play?

In your opening hand you want to see Resourceful which you should mulligan for. This goes immediately on Folco Boffin to start helping field ents and will later be swapped onto Na'asiyah with Bartering. Any additional Resourceful will go on Na'asiyah.

Legacy of Durin is standing in for Gamldring which I put in the deck this weekend. This goes on Na'asiyah once you’ve got it along with a Rohan Warhorse and the Magic Ring.

All Fast Hitch go on Merry. Between all of this readying the basic concept of the deck is to set up for big turns where you engage and then kill everything! attack with Merry and Na'asiyah kill enemy, ready Na'asiyah thanks to Merry ability, ready him with Fast Hitch, repeat. when you run out of Fast Hitch use Rohan Warhorse which can also be used if Na'asiyah has to attack alone such as with Quick Strike.

The Ent package is to cover the base of questing as needed and give a few extra blocks and could be swapped out if you prefer something else or if you have a partner deck to cover those elements.

A Few Highlights

This weekend I got to use this deck to take out several Nazgul in a round preventing the death of the first player and the loss of the game thanks to The Hammer-stroke. Na'asiyah can tank hits pretty well once you are set up and she and Merry can provide some crucial pivot turns when needed. In another game she managed to one shot every enemy that came out of the encounter deck and then eventually deal Saruman in a single round. Overall I’ve really enjoyed using her in this deck!

Summary

This deck is capable in solo play and multiplayer. It is a little slow to get going as are most decks using the ent core, but thanks to secrecy in the start and the flexibility of Na'asiyah as a blocker or attacker you will usually be able to make it through the first few rounds to get going.

I had a blast in the games I’ve used this deck and there is something satisfying seeing Na'asiyah carve through your enemies with her blades.

If you are looking for a deck with Na'asiyah give this one a shot! Hope you enjoy it!

Bartering is brilliant to move Resourceful. Nice combo.

Nice! Bummed I didn't get to see it in action at the con. What's the largest number of enemies killed in a single turn so far?

The most I’ve done so far is 4, but I tend to be more limited by what’s on the board then what I could actually handle. This deck is pretty effective at killing 1-2 enemies a round so they often don’t build up!
