Twelvesmallsquares 168

This is a fairly straightforward solo deck that gets some willpower and attack down on the board, and uses weapons to buff attacks/defence and work with the associated event cards for card draw and extra damage.

Willpower/Questing - Eowyn is the main player here with her mighty 4. She is supported by Arwen (who also boosts defence), Ethir Swordsman and Galadriel's Handmaiden (who also helps with threat). There is also a copy of Necklace of Girion in there for bonus willpower (and resources). Arod is also in there and can go on any hero for some pseudo-questing. Followed is also in there to help out in this regard. Windfola goes on Eowyn of course for a little extra push.

Combat - Beregond will do the brunt of the defending, with a Gondorian Shield and a Spear of the Citadel (EDIT - nope, Spear can only go on a Tactics Hero so replace it with a copy of Round Shield). Get an Unexpected Courage or two on him and you are good to go. At a push Azain Silverbeard can do a little defending if need be, but Beregond should do most of the work for you, especially if you can get the Mithril Shirt on him - this is surprisingly invaluable as there is no healing in the deck. Attack-wise Hama is your main man. Kit him out with Mighty Prowess, Spear of the Mark and Warrior Sword for enough oomph to see off most enemies. The remaining allies are in place to support Hama. All straightforward enough, just stick the Bows of Yew onto the Warriors of Dale if they show up, or put one on Hama if you're low on weapons. Another Unexpected Courage can go on Hama for multiple attacks. This is all backed up with the events which are all focused around weapons. Foe-Hammer will get you loads of card draw, Goblin-Cleaver will get you bonus damage, Open the Armo(u)ry will fish weapons out for you (as will Bofur), and Swift and Strong will get you extra attack. Use Hama's ability to get back the event cards you want as and when you need them. if you're low on cards then just keep recycling Foe-Hammer.

Resources - Necklace of Girion gets you extra resources, as does Horn of Gondor for if you lose some allies to chumping. Horn can go onto Eowyn to help pay for all those tactics card, but try not to throw too many allies under the bus. A Good Harvest can also be used should you need to get some extra spirit resources out, especially in the early game.

Threat - Galadriel's Handmaiden is the only threat resuction in the deck, but you will get plenty from Beregond as once he is up to 6 defence with some Unexpected Courages on him you will be defending without taking damage left, right and centre.

Sideboard - Grappling Hook will see you through when you need to get some extra willpower. Herugrim is handy on Eowyn for if you need to get some extra attack in. Outmatched is handy for a bit of extra readying, and Sterner than Steel will sort out any nasty shadow effects.

And that's it. All very straightforward. This is by no means a top tier deck, but it should see you through a good number of quests if the cards work in your favour. Have fun!

Remember, Gondorian Shield is "Limit 1 per Hero", so you cant have "a pair of Gondorian Shields" on Beregopnd.........Nice deck though, I'll be using this over the week.

@AldricHof course it is, I totally forgot about that! I'll amend the text now. I was running this deck against The Ghost of Framsburg yesterday and it totally destroyed that quest. I ended on 10 threat, drew my whole deck and was one-shotting most enemies and locations. I don't think it would do too well against the super-tough quests, but for an all-round deck it seems to work rather well.

@Telvesmallsquares you have a pretty decent solo deck here. Be aware though that Spear of the Citadel can only be attached to a Tactics character, which Spirit Beregond is unfortunately not ^_^

Secondly, from the above post you seem to forget that the threat reduction from Beregond is limited to once per round (at best offsetting the threat increase every round, and stalling your threat throughout the game). Without other threat reduction effects, I doubt you can reach 10 legally.

Another thing that might be nice for the recursion-effect of Háma is Elven-light. This will give you a bit more card-draw by playing it from your graveyard, and having a card for discarding by using Háma's recursion ability.

Still these are just some minor comments. Good job and enjoy playing the deck :)

@Wolves you raise 2 vlid points, neither of which occurred to me! It would probably help if I read the cards properly! It's been a long time since I Beregonded. May swap out the Spear of the Citadel for some Round Shield. Not used that card before and could be good.
