This is the deck I've made to try out the new hobbit cards that come in The Thing in the Depths. Sam Gamgee is a really solid ally for only 1 ressource since Frodo Baggins is there. Elevenses can be an amazing threat reduction event (hopefully triggering Hobbit Pipe) once you have plenty of and a handful of hobbit characters.

This is a hobbit secrecy control deck so it's probably better played solo. Also, it relies on leaving the enemies in the staging area until you are ready for them, so it might trouble with quests that have lots of low threat threshold enemies or quest that raise your threat fast.

With all threat reduction, you can usually engage enemies one by one and defend with Frodo without much worry. Hopefully, you can muster enough from allies to kill 1 enemy per round.

Opening Hand

Your ideal opening hand probably contains Resourceful and some allies you can play on your first turn (Arwen Undómiel, Bilbo Baggins, Celduin Traveler, Ithilien Lookout, Sam Gamgee or Wandering Took).

Wombo Combos

Merry with Fast Hitch and Hobbit Pony can quest and ready with the hitch before staging ; exhaust when an enemy is revealed to lower threat ; get removed from the quest and ready with Elevenses (lowering threat again) then finally get right back on the quest with the pony.

You can use Deep Knowledge or Frodo's ability to ready Sam pretty much when ever you want.

Sideboard and Other Deck Quirks

Hobbit-sense is in the sideboard for quests that have low threat enemies that engage you before you are ready to deal with them. Once again, you have enough threat reduction to afford to keep Gandalf around so I've included a copy of Narya for him. Dwarven Tomb is mostly there to recycle Elevenses but A Test of Will is always good too.

Your deck inspired me. I took it for a spin then made my own tweaks. I posted a decklist. Check it out and tell me your thoughts.
