Box of Hats 677

Combining Good Meal with Stand and Fight, Merry performs a miracle and raises the dead in this reanimator/threat sink build.

One part Noldor synergies and one part Hobbit threat reduction, this deck can play multiple roles throughout a game. Between Arwen's resource acceleration and Merry's Good Meal, it has the potential for some explosive first turns, but is more likely to have an average start as it collects the pieces to really get going. Mirror of Galadriel provides exceptional aid in finding whatever's needed at the time and Silver Harp or Dwarven Tomb provide insurance.

By adding Noldor to the Hobbit Pipe threat sink, Elrond's Counsel can be run over cards like Smoke Rings, while Wandering Took + Hobbit Pipe + The Galadhrim's Greeting can pass card draw to other players (in addition to Galadriel's ability).

The allies are generally all flex slots for your favorite pricey top end pieces, although Faramir, Gildor Inglorion, and the Northern Trackers really pull their weight. Of particular note is how well Gildor pairs with the Mirror of Galadriel, as one can cherry pick the best of the three cards, then shuffle the rest away.

This deck has been played extensively in two player alongside a heavy Leadership deck running Second Breakfast, thematically giving extra Good Meals. In this scenario, it performed excellently in Journey Along the Anduin, Escape from Dol Guldur, and a few other quests. It has also been a strong player in the Black Riders quests in a four player environment.

I'm actually opening expansions in an unconventional manner, adding a couple cards from an expansion to my card pool every week or so. I got into the game last Christmas, binged on expansions, and then constructed this method to maximize my enjoyment and appreciation of new cards. Although I own and have opened The Road Darkens, I haven't gotten to Bilbo yet.

With that said, I'd probably run two copies of Bilbo, replacing one Nenya and one Elven-light. Nenya isn't necessary for all board states and Mirror is excellent for digging, anyway.
