Wolves 33

This is my first attempt at a viable deck for both solo and multiplayer.

It's a pretty straight forward deck with Éowyn and Glorfindel with Light of Valinor as questers, Beregond using Gondorian Shield, Spear of the Citadel and when available Unexpected Courage as (multiple time) defender and Glorfindel using Elven Spear as attacker.

Obviously, questing is supported by Ethir Swordsman, and defending is supported by Defender of Rammas who can use the second and third copy of Spear of the Citadel to soften the enemies for our attacking Glorfindel, who will be aided by the fantastic ally Legolas and the low cost Dúnedain Hunter.

Card drawing is done using the aforementioned Legolas ally and three copies of Foe-hammer. It should be noted that I'd like to add three copies of Rivendell Blade which may be used by Legolas and Glorfindel and help trigger Foe-hammer but unfortunately, I don't have the AP yet. In addition, in multiplayer, 2 copies of Rivendell Bow are added to give Glorfindel ranged and increase the attack power of Legolas by 1 when making a ranged attack. The fact that the bow is the only non-restricted weapon in the game makes it a viable addition to the deck even when Rivendell blade is added (filling up the restricted slots for Glorfindel and Legolas).

Despite the lack of weapons currently in the deck to accomodate Foe-hammer, card drawing is mostly enhanced with the use of the very strong Elven-light which can be easily discarded through Éowyn's ability or the Elven Spear for Glorfindel. Personally, I think Elven Spear is a great card when combo'd with Elven-light and the occasional unique dead card in your hand. Especially later in the game, the added attack power is more welcome than the additional 1 will power from Eowyn.

Ally Arwen Undómiel is very useful for the added defence for Beregond or a Defender of Rammas and Imladris Stargazer can be used to draw the right cards at the right time.

2 copies of Northern Tracker will take care of location clogging at the staging area.

Playing a deck without A Test of Will and Hasty Stroke is silly, and due to the fact that I only have one core set and cannot play 3 copies of these cards, one copy of Will of the West is added to get those goodies back in the deck. Like-wise, playing , I'd never leave home without Feint.

Filling up the deck with Elrond's Counsel, 2 copies of Stand and Fight and 3 copies of Resourceful. The latter may not be an obvious choice, but for some reason has helped me several times in need when the encounter deck throws resource depleting cards against me. However, when I have the Rivendell blades at my disposal I'm fairly sure I'll dump resourceful for them.

I've put 2 copies of The Galadhrim's Greeting in the side board if you need to help your buddy out with his threat in a multiplayer game.

The starting threat for this deck of 24 is nice and like mentioned earlier, it plays very naturally. Muligan for Light of Valinor although a combination of Gondorian shield with either Spear of the Citadel or an elven-light may be worth keeping as well.

The deck doesn't have a lot of resource acceleration, but really doesn't need it very much since Beregond uses his ability to attach the shield and spear on for free and the Duneain Hunters, Elven spears and Foe-hammers have a cost of 0. Legolas is a bit of a tough one with 4, especially if you have recently played Defender of Rammas, but usually, resources aren't an issue for the side of the deck. The side is a bit more under pressure due to the use of Elven-light and the need to have at least one or two resources for those great event cards. Resourceful helps out here in longer quests.

When using a second core set, I'd probably replace both copies of Stand and fight and the one copy of Will of the West for a third copy of A Test of Will and Hasty stroke, as well as a second copy of Unexpected Courage.

Raven-winged Helm is another good card I'd love to put in at least once for Beregond (although it can be attached to all heroes with the use of Arwen's ability). However, that 50 card limit is so easily met with all these fantastic cards around.

I'm very happy with the result of this deck even though I haven't played many scenario's with it yet, but those that I did solo went fairly well so far. I'm a bit surprised that this is the only deck around using these three heroes at the same time, and I'd love to know if you guys can explain why this deck may not be as good as I think/hope it is.

In this respect, please feel free to comment so that I, as a starting player, may learn ^_^

I'd drop the Dunedain Hunters for Knights of the Swan perhaps. Less downside since you're a little short on readying. I'm working on a similar setup with Cirdan instead of Eowyn. Livery of the Tower has been an awesome addition. Same with Raven Wing Helm, auto-include with Beregond, especially without healing. You could also drop hasty stroke in favour of Sterner than Steel. You could add some daggers of Westernese instead of the Rivendell Blades to help with foe-hammer triggering.

Thank you for your input! I'd still prefer the Hunters over the Knights because of the cost (no acceleration on Beregond unfortunately) and the hunter has 3 attack immediately whereas the knights only have that when they're all on the table. Although they might be discarded if no enemy comes up from the deck. Please note that it costs nothing to bring them back with Stand and Fight, although this may be a bit of a waste for such a great card...

Livery of the Tower is a nice card indeed, but it's restricted which means that it takes the place of either the shield or the spear (most likely the latter) and moreover, the fact that it costs precious resources to prevent the damage may be a bit to much for this deck.

I agree that Sterner that Steel would be preferable in favour of Hasty Stroke, but I don't have the AP yet. Beregond will have at least one, two or possibly even three weapon/armor attachments with Raven-winged helm added so StS is easily played and costs no resources.

I also don't have the daggers, but given the opportunity, I would still choose the blades over the daggers (just barely though) as the daggers may only be attached to a hero (meaning Glorfindel who already has Elven spear which I need to keep re-using Elven-light) whereas the blades can also be attached to Legolas, the latter may even have two since I won't be giving him any other items other than the Rivendell Bow, which is not restricted by himself.
