NERD 808

A stupidly thematic deck. Once the contract flips, assuming you haven't already lost, assemble the Sam Gamgee, Sword-thain, and Friend of Friends combo. Unexpected Courage and Fast Hitch is also great.

Sword-thain isn't strictly thematic, but otherwise neat idea! Does it actually work?

Out of the Wild and Risk Some Light would be good adds, also Vanish from Sight might help once you're out of secrecy. And what about The Shirefolk? You can play it while Sméagol is flipped.

@NERD Very nice and thematic deck, kudos

Resourceful is not a good choice with this contract unfortunately, since you can't gain resources from attachments (collect falls under the "gain" umbrella).

@Turgon It doesn't work too well. I figured that Sword-thain was fine as allowed me to play Friend of Friends. Unfortunately, the deck is hardly playable. While I haven't tried it, I doubt it could beat Passage through Mirkwood. You have no willpower or combat capability. I excluded The Shirefolk because you never want Sméagol to flip. If he does, there is a good chance you will lose. The Master Ring is there to protect against stinker.

@kjeld Out of the Wild would be great to remove Stinker. Risk Some Light is also probably good. Vanish from Sight is also great, but I did not have enough secrecy cards in this build to make it worthwhile. By the time you are out of secrecy, you should have Sword-thain on Sam Gamgee anyway.

@Alonewolf87 Ok, I forgot about that restriction, but I did not think that Resourceful would count as that anyway. Out of curiosity, does Resourceful trigger Harbor Master?

@NERD It's a definition from FFG, rule clarification 1.25 to be precise. And yes Resourceful does indeed trigger Harbor Master (possibly the best way to take advantage of that ally).

I would say the best way to use Harbor Master is the Miruvor/Brand son of Bain/Bard son of Brand combo. While the combo can't give you resources, it can give your Harbor Masters infinite shield.

@LEGOlas How does that work?

I think the idea is to have 2 Miruvor in hand, play the first one on any Spirit Dale hero without any attachments, draw a card with Brand son of Bain, discard the 1st Miruvor to add 1 resource to attached hero and put 1st Miruvor on top of your deck. Play the 2nd Miruvor on the Spirit Dale hero and draw the 1st Miruvor with Brand son of Bain. Discard the 2nd Miruvor to add 1 resource to attached hero and put 2nd Miruvor on top of your deck. Rinse and repeat ad nauseam.
