"'The gift seems already to be given,' said Théoden. 'But hearken all! Here now I name my guest, Gandalf Greyhame, wisest of counsellors; most welcome of wanderers, a lord of the Mark, a chieftain of the Eorlingas while our kin shall last; and I give to him Shadowfax, prince of horses.'

'I thank you, Théoden King,' said Gandalf. Then suddenly he threw back his grey cloak, and cast aside his hat, and leaped to horseback. He wore no helm nor mail. His snowy hair flew free in the wind, his white robes shone dazzling in the sun.

'Behold the White Rider!' cried Aragorn, and all took up the words.

'Our King and the White Rider!' they shouted. 'Forth Eorlingas!'"

Just like with King Theoden in the story, I was about to temporarily send the Rohan archetype to the shadows as simply a deck that right now isn't quite viable against the current meta. That is, until Gandalf shows up. Now, however, just like the valiant yet old and weaker King Theoden, this deck knows its weaknesses, and goes with them. At 32 starting threat, you can see this deck is a straight aggro deck that's meant to run fast or die. The stats of our heroes really allow us for that, as well as some really good combat capability right off the bat. Now the other important weakness of the deck is how important the Wizard Pipe is. By all means mulligan for the Pipe. It allows us to play our most important cards as well as any other card with Gandalf's resources. The earlier you get a pipe, preferably in your opening hand, the better the deck will perform, simple as that. But if you do get it in your opening hand, the deck can get ridiculous. The access to Steward and Daeron's Runes really make a difference, but even if you don't get Pipe in the opening hand, Gandalf's Staff can pull a lot of weight until you get it.

The rest is pretty much any other Rohan deck. Recycling allies such as Hama and Grimbold with Gamling, giving Eowyn Snowmane and Shield, and quest hard. Not really much else to say, this deck has really surprised me with how well it has performed. It easily beat Helm's Deep solo, but most importantly it beat Pelennor (albeit with the help of Banner of Elendil, but it's just stupid not to put at least one in with FOTW Aragorn) and Cobas Haven in the third attempt. I definitely wouldn't say this deck is top tier simply because of its dependance on Wizard Pipe, but once you do get it and your other attachments, the deck can pull its weight in a spectacular fashion.

Update: Victory against City of Corsairs in the first try! This was surprising. The first stage was incredibly sloggish, I struggled to stay on course and spent the majority of the game in this stage trying to clear locations and kill enemies (had to waste Eowyn's ability on a Raid Leader to gain a footing on the quest). I even handicapped myself accidentally as I misread the quest card and I stayed in 1A even after I destroyed the Stormcaller, thinking I had to still pass the stage normally. In the end I one-shotted 1A at 46 threat and cleared the other 2 stages in the consecutive rounds, as I already had a massive Rohirrim army that just didn't care about Sahir at all.

Very cool and thematic deck!

The high up-front power was very useful against the fast Isengard quests.

Not 100% sold on the Daeorons Runes (Well that might have something to do with my choice of quests) and Steward (Didn't really need the extra resources) as they can be slightly awkward to get into play.

I'll experiment with some other cards instead (Flame of Arnor? More mounts like Armored Destrier?) - Not sure yet.

Thanks for the comment!

Even though I have Gandalf's Staff and Theoden's ability, as a solo player I really tend to value the card draw and resource acceleration provided by Daeron's Runes and Steward. The extra resources and cards just never go unused. Also the Staff is only able to do one per turn, whereas Steward lets me keep a Háma-Gamling engine each round while also letting me play other cards, which is necessary to advance your boardstate in the first place. And while Destrier is a god card, I don't see how it is less awkward to play than Steward or Runes?

Glad to see you like playing the deck! It's certainly one of my favorites.
