Darkling Door 6122

Darkling Door has a newer deck inspired by this one: Warriors of the West

This is the latest version of the multiplayer brothers deck I built to go with my wife's Spirit/Lore Erestor deck. This has quickly become my favorite go-to deck for multiplayer, and we used these two decks for the entire The Grey Havens / Dreamchaser cycle. We beat all 9 quests with only minor changes to this deck throughout.

General Strategy

Amarthiúl makes a great partner for the brothers. I typically try to keep two weaker enemies to get the extra resource and allow Amarthiúl to provide resource smoothing. Elrohir makes it pretty easy to tank those extra enemies round after round without too much sweat. When the pressure gets to be too much, Elladan and Amarthiúl can clean house.

I always mulligan for Elven Mail. Those extra 2 hit points go a long way to helping Elrohir take attacks without worrying too much about a stray shadow effect.

After a turn or two of setup, this deck can defend amazing numbers of enemies. It's no sweat to keep 4 enemies engaged at once, and toward the end of the game it can tank 10-15 enemies without too much trouble—and with some ships having Boarding 3, that happens surprisingly often.

It's probably best to pair this deck with one that can provide some healing. A little extra card draw is welcome too.

Spending Resources

When deciding between spending resources on something now or holding on to those resources for an emergency, I lean towards saving the resources. I use Feint, Sneak Attack, Descendants of Kings, and Ranger of Cardolan as emergency defense when I get an enemy that Elrohir can't safely tank or an enemy I really have to kill this turn. If I didn't end up needing the resource, then that's a bonus resource I could use to put down something even bigger next turn.

I only pay for Heir of Valandil if I have at least 2 enemies engaged. Once it is down, I'm usually getting a beefy ally for 1 resource (or free) every round.

Sideboard

The sideboard contains the cards I've used in the deck at various times that I have found to be useful. I sometimes use them to sub in when there are uniqueness problems when playing multiplayer, or if the other decks at the table are more of a support / questing nature and need me to pull extra enemies off of them.

Looks great. I like the way you're using the brothers without Steward of Gondor, which I don't like having to do. I've only just completed the Angmar cycle, so I wouldn't be able to use Revealed in Wrath, Armored Destrier, Halbarad or Eldahir yet, but your sideboard would cover those gaps. Do you have a list for the partner deck?

Yeah, I prefer to reserve Steward for Gondor decks only, if at all possible. We have enough alternative resource generation nowadays that there's no need to put it in every deck anymore.
