DazeMan 710

This is another deck part of Middle-Earth University. This is the tanking/combat deck.

This is a really fun deck to play, and is a variation of a deck that I took solo against City of Corsairs, which I believe to be a good quest to test a tanking deck on.

Steward of Gondor on Amarthiúl is the most ideal play that you would want to see on your first hand. For a / deck the card draw is pretty good between, Gandalf if you are sneak attacking him, Legolas (who in the fellowship can attack enemies engaged with other players, in order to keep the right amount of enemies engaged with you), and Foe-hammer. So, if you do not see the card you are hoping for in your opening hand, there should be opportunities to find it within your deck.

Like all Dunedain decks, you are wanting to engage as many enemies as you can handle. In multiplayer, Halbarad helps you optionally engage an extra enemy, if there is another deck that just is not ready to fight enemies yet. Since, this deck is not running Forest Snare or any other way to trap enemies, it will want to kill enemies engaged with it, to keep the number of engaged enemies around 2 or 3.

Since, this is the deck that wants to keep enemies, I have added opportunities for ranged attack with Dúnedain Cache, Legolas and Fornost Bowman, in order to assist in eliminating enemies engaged with other players. The Cache is most desirable to be attached to a hero from another deck though, Éomer in the Rohan deck, for he will become the strongest attacker on the table.

Attachments are important in this deck, and they have specific placements.

Amarthiul: Steward of Gondor, Gondorian Shield, Armored Destrier.

Aragorn: Steed of the North, Celebrían's Stone, Sword that was Broken, and either of the weapons.

Halbarad: Weapons, Dúnedain Cache

Galadriel is really the preferred way to get as many attachments as possible down, but resource acceleration is pretty good in this deck in order to get the cards down on a turn that are needed.

The allies in the deck have pretty straight forward jobs/assignments. Guardians block, Bowman attack, Wardens quest. Gandalf is versatile, just like in any deck. Timing your play on Ranger of Cardolan is one of the fun things about this deck. I mostly use the response to get him into play until resources are plentiful or Heir of Valandil makes him rather cheap.

Tanking is a fun way to play this game, which only really gets to come out in co-op or multiplayer. Check out the rest of this fellowship and have fun!
