Hey everyone,

This deck is my new Rossiel victory display deck. Post-errata Out of the Wild is pretty great when you're in secrecy, and my favorite new hero in a while, Folco Boffin, is a huge help for staying in secrecy.

Worth a mention, the deck's starting threat is actually 22, which ringsdb hasn't quite figured out.

Deck Strategy:

The most important thing to get early in this deck is resource acceleration. Like a lot of my other secrecy decks, Timely Aid will help you get a few big allies, but the rest you have to actually pay for.

Also, a little bit tricky: You don't always want to discard Folco Boffin right away. If you do, you can play Timely Aid in round 1. But it's definitely not worth it if the only card you're going to play out of secrecy is Resourceful. I was probably a bit premature in discarding him for the video, honestly.

Strider on Rossiel helps you use her defense boost, if you put an enemy in the victory display, but it's not incredibly essential. I still tend to have Treebeard defend an awful lot of attacks.

Final Thoughts:

So far, this is my favorite of all the Rossiel decks I've actually built and tested, but I still think it's generally too much of an investment for an inconsistent payoff, especially in solo. I did try the deck against The Steward's Fear, because of all the City locations, but I didn't actually hit any when I played Out of the Wild. That quest did not go well.

I am really excited to keep building with Folco Boffin, though. A few free resources at the beginning of a game, and then a couple of points of threat reduction later in the game is great.

Fun deck! I got to play it through a few quests and write up some thoughts on my experiences on this blog. lotrdecktest.wordpress.com

Thanks for posting this!

Does this deck have enough victory display cards to make it pay off? If you don't see an Out of the Wild, then the Door is Closed and Keen as Lances are basically dead cards and Rossiel has a blank text box.

@teamjimby The challenge I always have with the victory display cards is how many you want to include.

All of them feels pretty bad, because then you have 15 cards (more or less) in your deck that aren't actually helping you deal with any of the cards that actually come out of the encounter deck. The more players you have, the more reasonable that is, but I basically just play solo.

None of them is definitely a strong choice. Swap out Rossiel for Mirlonde, pull in Deep Knowledge, Heed the Dream and three more allies.

But I wanted to build around the victory display mechanic again, so this is my happy medium. It works out sometimes, and slamming The Door is Closed! in an enemy's face still feels good.

The Door is Closed! is the most satisfying card to play in the entire cardpool.

@chrsjxnI hear you. It's hard to commit fully to victory display in you are playing solo. And if you don't commit fully to it, the victory display stuff can be underwhelming.

If you want to play around with secrecy and victory display, I just posted a deck that I've been toying with for a while. It's intended for multiplayer, but can work in solo. ringsdb.com
