Hey everyone,

Chris here with a deck that's going to feature in two videos this week! This deck is all about playing allies outside the planning phase, dropping them in for free, or both.

The deck can ramp up in willpower pretty quickly, and hold onto a few resources for a bit more combat punch when necessary. Boss enemies can be a little rough, though.

Card Choices:

Curious Brandybuck is one of the easiest examples of the kind of ally this deck wants to work with. Drop it into play for free when you travel, use it to chump block or just quest for two.

And to go with that, we've got a few other shuffle effects. Heed the Dream lets you pull out the best card from your top five, yes, but it also shuffles the Brandybucks away from the bottom of your deck. Ranger of Cardolan is similar, and has a built in ambush effect.

Dúnedain Hunter and Dunedain Pathfinder both work well with these. The hunter lets you engage an enemy to play the Ranger of Cardolan during planning, and the Pathfinder ensures you have locations to trigger the Brandybuck.

Elfhelm from the new saga expansion and an off-sphere Sneak Attack round out the ambush package.

The deck also includes two sidequests, though I don't know if it's always worth completing both. Gather Information is the one you want to complete the most, with Double Back to help maximize the chances you'll be able to use Thurindir's tutoring ability.

Final Thoughts:

This deck gets to be in two videos this week, though I'm only posting one of them today, so this'll just be about that first quest.

This deck is quite good at questing, despite not really including most of the questing powerhouse allies. It is very dependent on Elven-light to really get its draw going, though the lore backup helps you find it pretty quickly.

I played Druadan Forest, and unfortunately you can't have allies defend against Dru-buri-Dru. This deck is very light on defense in the hero department. I think you could still pull out a win, if you were more prepared for it. But it'd cost you at least one hero.

If you want to watch the video, it's up on youtube here! Or if you like the deck, you can see all the decks I've run here on ringsdb!

Quest number two with this deck is up on youtube! Check it out here!

The questing power of this deck continues to impress me. It ramps up to 11 just from the heroes, and every ally contributes at least one. (Barring Ghân-buri-Ghân with no locations on the table...)

I also didn't get to shuffle a Curious Brandybuck back into the deck and redraw it, which disappoints me a little bit.

This video also shows the kind of combat math you can do, ambushing in just enough allies to defend or kill the enemies you need to handle. I may or may not have thrown an Elven Jeweler directly under the bus this time around.

And, of course, how could I not mention the triple Deep Knowledge opener...

Thanks for watching, everyone!
