I made the mistake of playing the Babes of Middle Earth deck which graces page 1 of the Hall of Fame. It took me something like 27 painful turns to beat Passage Through Mirkwood!
These babes may be pretty, but they can also shoot bows, scout ahead, ride horses, smoke pipes and kick some orc ass.
This isn't a power deck by any means, but it is functional.
Each lady has her role to play. Arwen gets Light of Valinor, Protector of Lorien, Silver Lamp and the Cloak of Lorien so she can help quest and serve as the primary defender. Galadriel will help keep threat low and quest with Nenya. She will get one copy of Unexpected Courage and with Tale of Tinuviel, she can help Beravor either defend or attack the largest enemies. Beravor gets the other UC so she can draw cards every turn as well as puff on her pipe and quest or help in the attack phase.
The allies will do plenty of questing but the Mirkwood Runner can pick off Goblins here and there while the Marksman of Lorien (or Markswoman if you prefer) will help deal with the larger enemies. Use Elf-stone to get Firyal and the Marksman into play.
The deck doesn't play fast, but it can handle some of the less brutal quests. I have won games against Passage through Mirkwood, Into the Pit and even a lucky game of Treachery of Rhudaur!
