I built this deck to pair it with another hobbit deck that was focused on questing and attacking through Tom Cotton, Sam Gamgee and Folco Boffin.
I love the fact that I can keep my threat super low through Merry's ability (especially if I can get Fast Hitch on him to use his ability two or three times) which allows me to engage enemies on my terms, especially if I am paired with another deck that has super low threat. Also, Argalad... Argalad, Argalad, Argalad, Argalad... oh and Argalad. super fun once you get all his toys on him. Light of Valinor, two Mirkwood Long-knife's, and either Unexpected Courage or the Magic Ring help him quest, use his ability and attack! Protector of Lórien is merely an added bonus if you get it out.
Argalad is essentially a four willpower character with his ability and he's even better with those Mirkwood Long-knife's. Can't say enough about this guy!
Lastly, if I happen to get engaged or attacked by something in the staging area I can use Frodo Baggins' ability to stay alive. Threat increases do not concern me Admiral... not with Merry!
I haven't tried this deck solo yet but would be interested to see how it does! Let me know if you have!
Cheers!
I think normally you can not reduce your threat with Merry more than once per quest phase, as you don’t have an action window
