Hey everyone,

Chris here with a Dori brew I've had on the backburner for a little while. Light of Valinor means Arwen can quest and still be ready for defending with Dori's help in the early game. And once we've stacked up some of our attachments, he can take over on defense and leave her ready to attack.

Strategy

Elven-light is our main draw engine, coupled with Erestor. And since we're not running lore, these are probably the most important cards to find in your opening hand.

Our attachment suite is pretty simple. DĂșnedain Warning for Dori, DĂșnedain Mark for Arwen. Two Rivendell Blade for Arwen, and the third can go on Glorfindel. And your readying should get mixed and matched between Arwen and Dori as you see fit, but it should be pretty even.

The allies are a pretty straightforward bunch, but there are a few that are worth mentioning. Envoy of Pelargir is mostly here to redistribute tactics resources to either of the other heroes. And the Andrath Guardsman is here to help with combat in the early game. Arwen and Dori can defend pretty well against things you'll be forced to engage, but if you don't have enough readying yet (or enough allies), it can be tough to kill them. He helps with that, and then probably chumps another attack later.

Video Thoughts

First video is up today, and you can check it out on youtube here. This deck against Wastes of Eriador. Twice.

I did not remember this quest being so rough solo as it was in this video. But then you surge into Weight of Responsibility as the time card flips to Night. And then there are three or four new cards in the staging area, just waiting to become best friends.

This deck is definitely light on questing power, and no lore means no easy access to good healing. Which makes the Weather treacheries a pain, too.

I'll definitely have to come back to this quest, with a less janky deck, in the future. Even if the extra encounter cards every other round don't get much easier.

And, if you are willing to wait, the second video this week goes quite a bit better. (As have the few times I've played this deck off camera.)

Thanks for watching!

Video two is up here.

It's a pretty good showing for the deck, even if Dori doesn't do a whole lot during the quest. I didn't see a single Elven-light, so the draw power was pretty limited. Which meant Dori wasn't contributing too much on the defense front.

Though Arwen was entirely stacked, allowing the deck to pretty easily handle combat when it needed to. Including everyone's favorite double Hill Troll.

It'd be interesting to try a deck like this in a multiplayer game, but I think voltron Arwen and Dori is just not efficient enough to handle a lot of quests easily.
