Well, the internet certainly did not lie. Heirs of Numenor is really a steep increase in difficulty compared to Dwarrowdelf. I initially approached the quests with a mono leadership, but decided to try tactics due to the heavy focus on battle and siege. I had a lot of fun with this deck and would like to try it in multiplayer!

The current incarnation was the deck that beat Siege of Cair Andros. In my story, Hirgon left for Minas Tirith to warn the people, while Boromir and Imrahil remained to help Beregond with the defense. The decks works nicely with Hirgon, though Cair Andros saw great benefit from Beregond for the Siege quests. Beregond "only" contributes 2 more defense pr round so it is not changing a lot. But Hirgon is absolutely necessary if you want to try the deck against quests with willpower questing! However, I found that Imrahil and Hirgon's abilities conflict a little too often, making the deck too resource dependent. Hence, I ultimately included Beregond instead.

I never tried Boromir in his glory days but he is still so much fun! Even though he can "only" ready once pr. phase, this is still more than enough to quest, block and attack every round (though Peril in Pelargir might punish excessive Boromir use). With Raiments of War and Captain of Gondor he becomes an absolute beast. Imrahil's ability is great to summon a chump blocker, or to provide crucial extra damage. The chump blocker summoning works particularly well with the Horn of Gondor which I usually place on Imrahil to fuel his ability.

For Siege quests, mulligan for Defender of Rammas and Gondorian Shield. If you can get a shield on Beregond and a defender in place you can quest for at least 8 during the first rounds. In Battle quests, Boromir and Imrahil contributes 6 alone. Mulligan for a Knight of Minas Tirith or Raiment of War.

If you want to try this against a willpower based quest, I recommend you remove Beregond, Hold your ground, Horn's Cry, Gondorian Discipline, Behind Strong walls, and Spear of the Citadel and include the Side board with Hirgon. I have yet to try it on anything non-Numenor, but I think it will be great fun. Especially Wait no Longer is really good to control the encounter deck (recycle it with Book of Eldacar if necessary). I think this would really shine in multiplayer though.

Have fun and enjoy!
