Hey everyone,

Chris here with a relatively simple deck. We're going to run a few sidequests (Gather Information, primarily), and jam them up against a quest that is pretty sidequest unfriendly!

And we're going to make it work with the extra resources from Théodred and Hirgon, as well as a huge number of allies.

Plus, as a small bonus, our hero selection gets us very close to the nine traits we need for The Free Peoples. So we'll use that as a bit of a get out of jail free card, similar to the usual Gandalf and Sneak Attack plan.

Strategy:

Let's talk sidequests. They're definitely the most interesting strategic concern for the deck. The first one you should push for is always Gather Information. It's free, it's quest requirement is low, and when you complete it you can go grab another sidequest.

If you don't want to get another sidequest, there are definitely a few other high quality options. Firyal, Yazan, and Legolas are all 1x cards in the deck with a big impact. Treebeard or The Free Peoples are more likely to show up in your hand naturally, but still good. And I've definitely gone to fetch a Warden of Healing in testing.

The second best sidequest in the deck is Prepare for Battle. It's pricier than Gather Information, but drawing an extra card every round is a big deal. Especially since our heroes have extra resources locked down.

The Storm Comes is also worth mentioning because of its synergy with Hirgon. If you don't play an ally during the planning phase, Hirgon's ability will let you play one during questing. And The Storm Comes will let you use any resources for that ally, not just Hirgon's. Which will occasionally let you get out one of the expensive tactics allies using the extra Theodred resources.

Video Thoughts:

This is a long one. It was a little draining to play, and you can tell. The mistakes pile up a bit at the end. Check it out on youtube here.

Of all the mistakes I made, the one that bothers me the most is discarding cards for Erestor's ability, after Erestor got discarded. It's like I forgot about him for half an hour, and only remembered I could use that ability once I looked at him to put him in the discard pile.

The other mistakes aren't so bad, because they added to the drama. Oh my god, so many Southron Archers. More than I have ever seen in this quest, for sure, because it dragged on for way too long.

But the deck pulled through, mostly thanks to its giant ally swarm. And I got to use The Free Peoples to burst through a side quest, just like I wanted. (Even if it was an encounter side quest...)

Thanks for watching!
