This deck enables the strong Ranger Bow deck below of Balin, Damrod, and Haldir by holding off enemies and adding just enough direct damage to make the Ranger Bows very viable.

http://ringsdb.com/decklist/view/8777

The direct damage is kickstarted by Thalin. With enemies down to 1-2 life, defend with Gondorian Spearman, possibly armed with Spear of the Citadel.

Desperate Defense and Magic Ring are great for Beregond. Both he and Gondorian Spearman are sentinel to protect the Ranger Bow deck. Cheap allies like Envoy, Knights of the Swan, and Vassals enable Hail of Stones and serve as chump blockers in a pinch. Éowyn quests, but does her thing to gain board presence when needed.

I didn't use Hasty Stroke or Sterner than Steel as Balin, in the other deck, cancels the worst ones, but you can add some to avoid a potential bad 2nd card. Black Arrow and Bow of the Galadhrim are for Haldir. Once a couple of Ranger Bows are armed in the other deck, it will throw resources and card draw at this deck.

EDIT: Originally, I wrote you could also put Spear on Beregond, but Wolves reminded me you can't! But it was a great option (to pick at larger enemies) so I'm wondering if I should use Beregond instead, swap in 3x Song of Travel, and mulligan for one... though I did like the threat reduction, so do 3x Song of Battle make more sense? Hmm... choices, choices...

I love the concept of Ranger Bow with Thalin and Gondorian Spearman with Spear of the Citadel, and I've tried to make a similar concept with a single deck. But the one thing that you slightly missed, is that Spear of the Citadel, while a natural attachment on tactics Beregond, is not allowed on spirit Beregond.

All in all I love the concept though. Possibly the two decks should provide a bit more location control between them, and I'd suggest adding The Day's Rising to your lore/leadership deck to put on Beregond. Having only one spirit resource per round may prove costly and it only intensifies the first block with him by gaining a resource in addition to that threat reduction. Spear of the Citadel may be natural for Tactics Beregond, The Day's Rising certainly is a natural for Spirit Beregond in my deck ;)

If any you have inspired me to try and make a workable deck around Ranger Bow, Well done!

Oh, wow! I even remember thinking when first building the deck that I can't play Spear on Beregond but only the Spearman... but then while playing, I completely forgot! Thanks for that and your other thoughts -- I'll edit my note above.

I played with the idea of Ranger Bows, Thalin, and Spearmen with Spears in one deck, but couldn't arm Ranger Bows fast enough to my liking, so I went to 2 decks, making Ranger Bows the focus of 1 deck... at times to the detriment of the quest! :) If you come up with something, please share, but this was my attempt at making Ranger Bows the star, rather than a support piece.
