Since some key Adventure packs like (FoS, SoF, TSF) have been sold out for quiet some time I, as a new player to the game, was not able to copy most of the decks suggested here.

This deck is my frst try at deck building with the somewhat limited cardpool I own. Since this is my first deck any suggestions are highly welcome.

The idea is to survive the first round and gather ressources, which is very well possible thanks to the 4 questing of Éowyn and the 4 defence of Beregond. In second round we bring out the big guns in form of Gandalf. Mulligan or dig for him with Mirror of Galadriel if you don't have him in your hand at the beginning. From now on we have a very good defender, two very good questers and a very versatile hero in order to deal with the encounter deck. The 2 threat increase is nullified with Galadriel's ability and Beregond defending and we only have a starting threat of 25 to begin with.

The more toys we get in our hand the more ridiculous this trio becomes. Gandalf's Staff smooths out resources, Shadowfax let's him quest for 4 and then attack or defend twice for 4 again. Éowyn with Herugrim and Snowmane becomes nearly as powerful as Gandalf. And when it's time to slay that big boss encounter we pull out Éowyn's ability with Herugrim and a Quick Strike for a whopping 14 attack strength, so that pesky Nazgul is dead before it knows what hit him.

Of course you won't be able to draw and afford all of the toys, but with Galadriel's ability and Mirror of Galadriel you should be able to assemble a formidable foundation rather quickly.

I beat Journey along the Anduin with two Hill Trolls in staging and Escape from Dol Guldur (with Galadriel being captured) on first try with this deck, one-handed. It has difficulties dealing with attachment-removing effects and direct damage, though.

Since there aren't many cards, I think you could change Éowyn with Glorfindel, so this way (and with the help of Light of Valinor) you could use both his quest and attack, hopefully from round 1.

I know, but as I said in the beginning of my description, the pack containing Glorfindel and Light of Valinor (Foundations of Stone) is sold out (at least in Germany), so these aren't an option.

If you have the Hills of Emyn Muil adventure pack, Song of Travel would help. Envoy of Pelargir from Heirs of Numenor is also a good choice for resource smoothing.

I really like the idea of a Hobbit Gandalf deck that uses Galadriel and Beregond to keep his threat cost in check. Seems like a really cool deck!

Since you asked for suggestions, here are a couple:

  1. Feint is almost always going to be as good as or better than Quick Strike. Both let you attack before the enemy, but Feint prevents the enemy from attacking at all, while Quick Strike only does so if you can kill it with a single attack. Since you have 2x Unexpected Courage, I'm assuming you have two core sets, so I'd probably switch from 2x Feint / 3x Quick Strike to 3x Feint / 2x Quick Strike.
  2. Flame of Anor is a pretty swag card when it hits, but it's so situational that you won't want it often (especially with Tactics Eowyn around to splatter the really big nasties), and it really works better with Hero Gandalf where you know what you can get. If you have the Gray Havens box, however, you have access to the best Hobbit Gandalf toy: Narya. It lets you exhaust Gandalf to ready two allies and give them both +1 attack and +1 defense. But Gandalf is himself an ally, so you can exhaust him to ready himself, boost himself to 5 attack and defense, and also ready and boost a second ally in the process. (Since you have The Antlered Crown, Ally Treebeard is my favorite partner for Gandalf and Narya.)
  3. All those 2-of cards are going to be a bit inconsistent. If the idea is that you're going to use the Mirror of Galadriel to dig them out, then I'd at least make the Mirror a 3x. (I'd also consider making Arwen a 3x because she's so, so, so, so good. And also a little bit fragile, so even if you wind up drawing her twice it's not really the end of the world.
  4. If you don't have Gondorian Shield, Raiment of War (from Thing in the Depths) is probably the next best defensive attachment available to Spirit Beregond. Raven-winged Helm (Wastes of Eriador) is also good tech if you have it. Both will increase the number of tactics cards for Eowyn to help pay for, too, which is nice. And both should be more reliable than Captain of Gondor.

I might also recommend Wizard Pipe and a couple copies of Bilbo Baggins to help fetch it. Most of the time in this setup, it's only going to be situational, but it can be clutch for setting up that really powerful Flame of Anor strike.

If you are going with the advice to drop Flame of Anor, then I'd also recommend Honour Guard, which is extremely helpful, especially if you don't have access to things like Gondorian Shield.
