With the release of The Withered Heath I was eager to try some of the new Dale cards. I have had a lot of success with a previous version of this deck in solo play, and I imagine that it would do well in multiplayer, too.

I tend to play King of Dale on Brand son of Bain and load him up with other attachments as soon as possible so that I can get an ally in play each turn for free. Necklace of Girion goes on him if it comes up, but it is not essential.

In the meanwhile, I usually quest with both Bard son of Brand and Lanwyn (unless I need her attack to help clear out an enemy). I like putting Magic Ring on her so that I have the flexibility to ready her for combat, if needed. Black Arrow also goes on her.

Long Lake Fisherman helps with card draw. Based on the breakdown of the deck the number you call should help you get the card you want.

Call 0 if looking for an event or attachment
Call 1 if looking for an attachment
Call 2 if looking for an ally (or King of Dale)

Ideally, you will play at least one ally each turn and put an attachment on it, which draws you a card. I included three copies of Long Lake Trader to help move attachments onto Guardian of Esgaroth to buff him up.

As a fail-safe, I have thrown in Gandalf + Sneak Attack to help with threat reduction/card draw/combat in the early game before you have all your allies out; however, I have played several games where this is not necessary.

Previously I used Spare Hood and Cloak in this deck, primarily as a zero cost card draw (assuming you have a Dale ally without an attachment to throw it on), but I found that I did not use its ability. So, I have swapped it out for the newly released Grey Cloak, which should be a useful way to deal with enemies that you are not ready to engage.

This is my first time posting, and I would love any feedback on this deck. Also, I am looking forward to the release of Wiglaf, who I think will fit nicely here, although I am not sure who would get bumped.

Happy questing!

Neat deck! I played through Intruders in Chetwood with it, a quest where Grey Cloak would be pretty pointless, so I swapped Spare Hood and Cloak back in. I actually used the ability once, tapping a North Realm Lookout to stand up and buff a Guardian of Esgaroth after the quest phase. Still, there's a bit of setup, so I can see why you'ld prefer Grey Cloak against a normal quest.

Thanks! Glad you like it. I agree, I think there are quests where Spare Hood and Cloak would be better than Grey Cloak. Cheers!

No knight of Dale?

Not including Knight of Dale was a tough choice. Ultimately, I opted to bench him for now in favor of Guardian of Escaroth and Redwater Sentry since they both benefit more from ally attachments (especially GoE). The readying ability of Knight of Dale is handy, but I found that To Arms and Magic Ring gave me all the readying I needed. When Wiglaf is released he will be added to the line up, which will give some more readying.
