I've really enjoyed the quests from the Ered Mithrin cycle. I like how, without being soul-crushingly difficult, they encourage the players to build decks that are well-suited to go against them.

After losing a few games with my regular decks against "Fire in the Night", I decided to build a deck specifically suited for that quest. Making sure Hrogar's Hill doesn't burn to the ground is the first priority, and chump blocking won't do. Beregond behind a Gondorian Shield might not be an original solution, but it is an effective one. Later in the deck, ally Treebeard can also shrug off Dagnir's attack, and the deck doesn't lack in damage cancellation and healing.

Fun fact: Thurindir's willpower has no upper limit. In the mid- to late-game, his questing becomes ridiculous, balancing Dagnir's threat increases.

Thurindir was part of the deck I used to take down Fire in the Night, too. I like how he always has one more point of willpower than Dagnir has threat, therefore you always have the upper hand as far as willpower VS threat goes.

Months later I am finally getting back to attempting to beat Fire in the Night solo (1 deck). I'm even using easy mode (extra resources and removing cards) and still struggling. I may need to just play with 2-decks. So far I've been trying to use my standard Dale deck and that's not cutting it. I'm thinking to add tech against side quests and found your deck. Thurindir really does seem like a good choice. And his 8 threat would drop my Dale deck to 27, giving me a bit more time to ramp up. Legacy blade is another great choice. I will give Thurindir a try. Thanks for posting and for the writeup.
