The Why

This deck came through inspiration to create a viable valour deck that did not revolve around nor even use Hour of Wrath. Unfortunately, the valour card pool is very limited which caused me to have to combine the deck type with that of another. With the new cycle's inclusion of the Dale genre and the addition of Knight of Dale to the valour ranks, I decided this would be the best choice for pairing.

Resource Generation

The deck relies on resource generation through Steward of Gondor and Mablung's ability and resource smoothing from Denethor's ability. Steward of Gondor will go on Brand son of Bain to increase his willpower and trigger card draw. If you are ever ending a turn with a resource on Denethor then you should pass it to Mablung.

Allies

This deck is looking to get as many allies on the table and attachments on those allies (primarily the dale ones) as fast as possible. However, there are three lore allies that can only be played through one of two means: the first is through the use of Herald of Anórien and the second is through A Good Harvest. Gléowine and Master of the Forge will be used to help with card draw while Long Lake Trader is used to move attachments around mid-game after you already put the Bow of Yew on the Guardian of Esgaroth for the card draw before you were able to play your Knight of Dale (more on this later). The primary questers are the Knight of Dales and Guardian of Esgaroths with there 3 willpower each when an attachment is played on them. The attackers will be Veteran of Osgiliaths and Knight of Dales with their ability to ready. For defence, you have Defender of Cair Androses and Redwater Sentrys. Finally, while the deck lacks any healing, it does have Honour Guards to help prevent damage.

Attachments

This deck is meant to play whatever attachments you have available on whatever dale allies you have available to keep the card draw going as long as possible. However, each ally has their preferred attachments. King of Dales love the Bow of Yews but are also okay with any attachment until those are available. Redwater Sentrys love Hauberk of Mails or Raiment of Wars. Guardian of Esgaroths love the Squire's Helms but are okay with any other attachment you have available. The Red Arrow is meant for Mablung and can be used if you get to 40+ threat and are still lacking allies. Finally, Favor of the Valar is going to keep you from threating out while playing so close to the sun. Please note: never be scared to play any attachment available on any available dale ally as the Long Lake Traders will help get everything where they need to be.

Events

These are very straight forward. Legacy of Númenor, while it can be used for resource generation, is primarily used for getting your threat to 40 when you are ready to do so. Fierce Defense and Horn's Cry are amazing valour events that help keep the heat low when everything and their mother are engaging you. Finally, A Very Good Tale is there to help speed along the ally swarm. Knight of Dales are great A Very Good Tale targets, but any 3 or more cost ally will do.

Pilot Instructions

You are looking for card draw in your opening hand. If you can play a turn one Gléowine or Master of the Forge, that is a great start. It also helps to have ally/attachment combinations to kick start the swarm. Definitely mulligan if your hand is too heavy in events or you have a lot of attachments but no allies. Steward of Gondor is always great to see opening hand but is not required as you should draw into it very quickly. This deck is very simple past that as it is all about spitting out allies and attachments. Save Fierce Defense and Horn's Cry for when you are in valour but also don't be afraid to use it sooner if the heat is too much. I hope those that do decide to try this deck enjoy playing close to the sun and I look forward to any feedback.
