my first nightmare scenario. Passage Through Mirkwood seemed like a good place to start.

the only way this deck can avoid the Hummerhorns awful forced effect is by keeping your threat below 40 until Gandalf shows up. the decision to hold Gandalf in reserve for dealing with them is wise.. good job Gandalf.

after a couple of playthroughs, i squeezed Reforge x2 into the mix, and the deck ran much more smoothly.

Athelas was needed and used. its slot in the deck is justified. note: more than once Ioreth went on the board turn 1, and was used every turn. very hard working.

..if you get both Glamdring and an Ent on the table, the deck becomes combat ready, so put any Hidden Caches on Bilbo to make it happen as quickly as possible.

cheers

an earlier incarnation of the deck had Ancient Mathom the usual lore events, but it turns out it just wasn't necessary: with the Cirdan/Bilbo machine running your card draw is covered. these two heroes when used together save a lot of card slots.
