Here is my take on the Eagles build pairing of Gwahir and Radagast. I was looking for a good ally to pair them with and Hirgon came to mind but he and Radagast clash a bit in their timing. Eowyn is always great for a boost but and was a consideration. And Boromir/Grimbeorn are the two best heroes for taking on Support of the Eagles but with the new Gwahir hero he is actually a solid choice for Support of The Eagles. So with the resource generation of Radagast’s Staff I chose to help shore up my main weakness with card draw via Legolas MOTK hero who also doubles as a great Support of the Eagles candidate and helps draw through the deck twice as fast.
You want to mulligan to get Radagast’s Staff and preferably Meneldor or Eagles of the Misty Mountains in early to help with questing. Then Utilize the slew of events or sacrifice an ally in the defense phase to boost up Eagles of the Misty Mountains/Support of the Eagles hero.
A lot of fun to play and I never had a time I couldn’t ready Gwahir thus far. You may have an issue on an especially prolonged quest.
I’ve been looking forward to trying a Meneldor build and this looks fun! The staff is so essential to the resource curve of Eagles, I’d drop in at least 2 copies of Word of Command. It’s always useful.
