Built for June '22 solo league. I've been wanting to build a tactics heavy deck so I decided to give it a try, with a bit of spirit to help with questing. It wasn't great - the main issue for these three solo league quests was threat control.

Wouldn't someone like Legolas be a far better option than Brand in solo, since Brand's ability is basically blank without other players? Eleanor is also a pretty weak solo Hero since the chance of flipping a bad treachery on any given turn is fairly low and she doesn't contribute any useful stats. Eowyn would help you with questing right out of the gate.

I also feel that you might lean too heavily into spirit. With a 2:1 Hero split and no additional resource smoothing (except for Envoy) the total cost of your tactics cards should be roughly twice that of your spirit cards. It is closer to 50:50 right now.

A few comments on individual card choices: Guthlaf is a pretty underwhelming Ally since his stats don't even allow him to survive a single attack from most enemies. I wouldn't play more than 1 copy, if at all. You definitely want more Weapons to trigger Foe-Hammer consistently (around 6 or so), otherwise it is a dead card too often. Forth Eorlingas! doesn't do much for you with only one Rohan Hero. It's main use is killing big boss enemeies with high engagement costs, but you'd need a second Rohan attacker for that. Elrond's Counsel is a good card, but I wouldn't run it with only a single Elf Ally that can enable it. As with Foe-Hammer, it will be a dead card way too often.

Hi there. I think you're correct with a lot of these points though I had a specific reasoning for some of these choices.

Brand was one of the required heroes for this solo league. Absolutely a bad solo hero pick but I was sort of heart-set on going tactics. I think I'm going to keep playing with this deck even after submitting my solo league result and swapping him out is definitely the most obvious change.

Hills of Emyn Muil and Return to Mirkwood were two of the quests this month and they have a bunch of really mean treacheries so I was actually really happy to have Eleanor. I had the spare hood and cloak to throw on her for when she didn't block a treachery she could ready one of the other heroes. It was ok. I might try someone else for other quests with less severe treacheries.

I did have a problem with more spirit than I could afford. I was thinking that tactics + neutral was twice spirit, but it didn't quite work out.

Forth Eorlingas (and nor am I a stranger) were in specifically for conflict at the carrock as I was hoping to use it to take out a troll without engaging. Similarly Elrond's counsel because I wanted to keep my threat down for the trolls and return to mirkwood but you're right, it wasn't reliable since Arwen wasn't always out.

Thanks for the interesting comment, though! I have been thinking of playing this deck for quests outside the solo league and you have a lot of good notes that I'll consider to improve it.

I think you have over-thought this deck. As opposed to using crazy combos for specific quests, just make a good deck with a few specific tools. With that said this deck is cool, it just don't think its that practical.

And Also Eleanor in a solo deck?! I've never seen Eleanor in a solo deck work
