Purely a support deck, works best with 2-3 other players. If the other players engage as many enemies as possible, the host of ranged characters can flexibly destroy any enemies. Gimli and the Warden of Helm's Deep help the other players defend (or Henneth Annûn Guard can give flexibility), since they take the enemies on. If you're forced to engage an enemy yourself, the Sentinel defenders can help you too, or Snowbourn Scout can fulfil his destiny and fall beneath the feet of rampaging orcs.

The deck can kind of do something other than attacking. Gildor Inglorion is a great quester and helps you draw into your archers, or helps across the table (you have a handful of expensive Leadership cards, but you don't actually need to play any of them unless you need a defender or Faramir). If you really need to ramp up the quest power, Faramir can turn a horde of ranged tactics characters into a passible questing crew (or better yet, help out across the table). The tactics heroes are also pretty good questers in a pinch, if you've got the ranged allies on line already.

The real joy, though, is attacking across the board and getting the ranged attack bonuses multiple times, thanks to Rohan Warhorse. With two Rohan Warhorses on Brand and one and two Daggers of Westernesse on Bard, they can combine for an effective 10 three times a turn, before adding in any of the allies or DĂșnedain Mark. Massive overkill in most quests, but it's really satisfying just clearing the sea of enemy ships in the Dreamchaser cycle.

Unfortunately, Brand son of Bain can't ready your own character (has to be a character controlled by the player with whom the enemy was engaged), so the readying combo with Bard the Bowman doesn't work. You could instead find a way to give Merry Ranged, and then he could stand in.
