If battles in the skies is what you want then here come the Eagles. This is the deck I have been using for Sunday Night Dragon Slaying.

First thing is to mulligan for Eagles of the Misty Mountains. A lot of the fun of this deck revolves around making one of these Eagles into a monster! If no Eagles of the Misty Mountains is found hopefully one of the dogs (Grip, Fang or Wolf) can be used to go and fetch them, good doggie.

We can muster 7 on turn 1 for early questing with the use of Faunith's ability to ready Gwaihir for combat.

The A Perilous Voyage contract is used for card draw, which eagle decks are usually short of. This will provide more Eagles to get Gwaihir back ready.

Resource acceleration is provided by Alagos' ability, you will usually want a resource for this effect.

The Allies in this deck are, as many eagles as I could find, plus some others for boosting.

The attachments are limited to those unrestricted cards that can be used to buff. Although there is one neat little combo enabled by the new Elessar card. Once Gwaihir has his Golden Crown and becomes Noble, Elessar will allow a monster Eagles of the Misty Mountains to defend and ready to attack for crazy damage!

The final attachment is Support of the Eagles, this is the card that I nearly always fetch when the contract flips. By the time this happens your monster Eagles of the Misty Mountains will be rocking about +7 or to add to Gwaihir.

A lot of the events revolve around either getting more money (which is always nice) or tricks with allies (don't discount Meneldor's Flight for a way to ready Gwaihir).

Throw in some side quests (which can be removed for the sideboard items dependent on the quest, special shout to Bulwark of the West), and we are done.

Great idea! I would add more A Very Good Tale, Wait no Longer, and Close Call. Another of each hobbit would also be good. I would cut Common Cause, Salvaged Supplies, The Wizards's Voice, Keep Watch, and Guided by Fate. Consider adding Radagast, Radagast's Staff, and Rune-master. Also, I would put Heir of Mardil in the main deck, as it can ready Alagos off Faunith and his own ability.

@NERD Thanks for the reply and suggestions.

I'm not sure that another A Very Good Tale is warranted in this deck as the ally count is only about a third of the total cards. With all of the other tutoring the whiff count will be quite high.

A second Wait no Longer could be good, I will have to try it. You know, in all of the games I've played with this deck I don't think I've even drawn it. let alone played it!

I can see the merits of losing most of the cards on your suggested cut list, but I am doubtful about Radagast and his toys. Realistically 5 resources for him is a bit steep, and then another 2 for his staff. It will need to help with 4 Eagles before it's even worth while.

I had the Heir of Mardils in the deck for a while but found that I always wanted resources so putting this on Alagos was a waste, and Gwaihir would ready when the eagle entered play without needing to trigger Heir of Mardil.

I'll have a play with the other cards, so thank you again for the suggestions.

I agree that Radagast is often overlooked and pretty bad. However, you do also get a two willpower ally for the deal, which is probably worth considering. Also, I just like using underappreciated cards. If you decide to use him, a copy of Gwaihir's Debt would be fun. You could also include a few more Legacy of NĂºmenor.

Also, I think Feast of Plenty would be a fantastic use of excess Leadership resources.

Open the Gates is a fan card that I always forget, but it fits well here.

Oooo, I Like the combo with Open the Gates and either of Meneldor or Descendant of Thorondor. Its just like a blind Sneak Attack.

@NERD I think I also need to stick up for Common Cause. Once the contract is flipped I'm not exhausting to quest. I can therefore use Common Cause to have Faunith ready my mighty Gwaihir to pull double duty.

It has not been uncommon for me to have an Eagles of the Misty Mountains with 5 attachments defend a Dragon or Troll, then ready with Elessar. Next the Eagles of the Misty Mountains will combine to attack for 18, and Gwaihir can ready again with Common Cause to clean up any weenies that are kicking around

@Cav Fan That is a very good point.
