Ashrinor 79
Ashrinor's Deckbox is a series of 12 decks that can be built from a complete collection and 3 Revised Core Sets. With minimal exceptions and excluding sideboards, they can be put together without the need to swap cards between them.
COMPLEXITY RATING: ⭐✰✰
POWER LEVEL: ⭐⭐✰
STRATEGY:
This is a simple swarm deck. The goal is to get out as many allies as possible as quickly as possible. The core engine for this deck is Steward of Gondor combined with Rod of the Steward. You’ll want to mulligan for one or both of these cards in your opening hand. Attach them to Boromir. Use resources to play stuff. Then when you have nothing to play, use them to draw more cards. Gandalf is your only source of threat reduction, so try to use him for that when able.
SIDEBOARD NOTES:
If you like to play thematically like I do, you’ll likely be using this deck a lot in the Against the Shadow cycle. In that case, you won’t always have need for willpower due to all the “battle” and “siege” keywords. Beregond might be a better option than Mablung for those quests. You’ll also want to swap out Visionary Leadership with something else.
Warden of Healing is your best healing option if you really need it. You can play him with A Good Harvest or just put him into play with Herald of Anórien.
If you really need a lot of willpower or if one of your heroes conflicts with another player's deck, you can replace Denethor or Boromir with ally Faramir via Messenger of the King.
I like the fact that it is not an usual Gondor deck with Motk Faramir or à swarm flash with Erestor. And it's nice to see Herald of Anórien, rarely included in most of Gondor decks. I will try this deck ! :-)
