This has to be one of my favorite combo based decks. It is suprisingly effective in solo play, taking down Nightmare Journey Along the Anduin on the first try. The fundamental idea is simple: using Ose-bori-Ose to temporarily set your threat from 40+ to 20 and then making this threat reduction permanent by using A Elbereth! Gilthoniel while also killing an enemy for free.

The trap package (Poisoned Stakes and Poisoned Darts) pair nicely together, ensure that Ose-bori-Ose triggers when needed, and continue the strategy of not directly attacking enemies. Instead, you can safely defend from behind your walls while the monsters are poisened to death, impaled on stakes.

Castellan Wilhelm combined with the doomed ally horde allows your threat to safely exceed 50 and even 60. This enables the A Elbereth! Gilthoniel! combo to consistently reduce your threat by 20, sometimes by 30, and theoretically by 40+ if everything lines up. This incredibly efficient threat reduction lets the deck absolutely spam doomed abilities. Legacy of Númenor and Deep Knowledge speed up the game plan significantly, Gather Information/Daeron's Runes find the key cards, and Risk Some Light can setup a medium threat enemy to enable the combo at the perfect time.

Edrik Ravenhelm has suprising utility during non-combat phases, to trigger Keys of Orthanc or Isengard Messenger as needed. This deck has sufficient amount of both resource generation (Legacy of Númenor/Keys of Orthanc) and card draw (Gléowine/Steward of Orthanc). Círdan the Shipwright rounds out the deck by providing card filtering, early game questing, and late game combat via Narya. Power of Orthanc or Masters of the Forest can be substituted into the deck, depending on the quest.

Have fun wildly raising your threat without consequences,

NERD

Very cool idea. Pillars of the Kings would also work well I think.

This is great! I love it when someone finds new uses for heroes! (Like what you did with Ose-bori-Ose.)

Very good idea ! Congrats! Maybe could you consider Saruman + The White ? In Solo he is very good ! Especially with Narya in play ! And if you threat is at 20 you can easily keep an enemy in the SA. Also you already play The Seeing-stone to find them!

@jww Pillars of the Kings is perfect for this deck and such a good idea!

@Whispers I forgot The Seeing-stone could find The White. In that case, they are definetly worth including.

As for cards to cut, Gléowine can go since pillars now solves card draw. Saruman replaces Mirkwood Pioneer and you could probably cut a few uniques or allies of your choice.

What happened to Pillars of the Kings? It's not in the list anymore...???!
