(MotK) Gildor Inglorion, Galdor of the Havens and Frodo Baggins have some exquisite synergies around draw, player deck manipulation and readying. To stay in a kind or "peaceful and bucolic flavor", I added some location control, great Ent allies, and efficient ways to defend. It's fun, offers a nice gameplay, and it works very well (more than 80% victory rate against the scenario Intruders in Chetwood).
Attach Protector of Lórien, A Burning Brand, Cloak of Lórien, Ent Draught, Expert Treasure-hunter, Lembas to (MotK) Gildor Inglorion ; Steward of Gondor, Cloak of Lórien to Galdor of the Havens ; Expert Treasure-hunter to Frodo Baggins.
Frodo quests, mitigates the threat, draws thanks to Expert Treasure-hunter, and ready (MotK) Gildor Inglorion who could either manipulate / draw thanks to it's action, or later will defend. In fact, many things may happen here between the beginning and the end of the quest phase. Gildor can trigger its action before of after the quest checking, and since the responses of Haleth, Expert Treasure-hunter and Frodo Baggins are optional, you can trigger them in the order you want. "To have the choice" is one of the great assets of the deck.
Another asset, related to the previous one, is the draw pace supported by strong resources. Thanks to the qualitative mulligan of Galdor of the Havens and his massive six cards draw + in-game mulligan of Drinking Song + Expert Treasure-hunter + Daeron's Runes + Haleth + Sneak Attack / Gandalf, and Steward of Gondor + Legacy of Númenor you always will have something convenient and good to play.
A Good Harvest increase the odds to be able to play Steward of Gondor first round. Elf-stone synergize well with The Hidden Way, Mirkwood Explorer and Ghân-buri-Ghân, and will help you to control Firyal, Treebeard or Faramir.
The greatness of Galdor here lies in four facts :
-
thanks to his response, you can build a mix between a versatile deck and a deck with several copies of uniques or important cards without suffering from too much opportunity cost (Protector of Lórien follow the same goal, while boosting the quest or the defense at the same time)
-
when his action is triggered early, you can even improve the Drinking Song efficiency that you would played just after that
-
the Gildor's deck manipulation allows to trigger Galdor's action sooner, because you can choose a card you can play NOW. Then since you have no card in hand, Galdor make you draw six cards
-
you can put 2 x Cloak of Lórien in the deck with a good reason ;-)
Treebeard is a key ally in that deck. Sooner you get him, better, because he will maximize its "self-readying" resources for the whole game. He allows Ent Draught too. So the deck has a great hero in defense and a great ally in combat. Quickbeam helps him in the attack department, and additionally he is a good quester.
Saruman is like an amazing swiss army knife, often used to end the game faster.
If you would face some nasty Condition attachments, I suggest you swap 2 x Elrond for Warden of Healing and Lembas.
Steward of Gondor and good carddraw, who losses with that should leave the game ;)
