Designed for multiplayer scenarios with emphasis on friendship and heroes who make use of augmented stats.
The deck makes use of the two heroes who seem the most intrinsically geared towards At the End of All Things contract since both Gimli and Legolas are incentivized to quest and then defend and attack respectively, making use of the enhanced stats. Council of the Wise is an effective counterpart contract given The End of All Thing's resource restriction hamstringing cards like Steward of Gondor, while also providing cards to enable both heroes Response requirements. Gimli wants Boots from Erebor, Hauberk of Mail, Armored Destrier, and either Armor of Erebor or Shining Shield (with Ancestral Armor ideally being attached to Wiglaf), while Legolas ideally makes use of Mirkwood Long-knife and Andúril if able to get the Heir of Mardil, Warden of Arnor or Strider on him, though playing Anduril onto Gimli is a consideration if King Under the Mountain is the only title drawn. One of the main concerns of the deck is that there is no healing, relying on other players' decks. As a result of the low healing, finding defensive attachments for Gimli is a high priority and you would ideally have cards to give him an additional 2 defense in your starting hand.

Jun 01, 2026I think the concern makes sense, although it hadn't occurred to be as dubious when creating the deck, as I interpreted it to be specifically targeting attachments since it seems like gaining resources through events is not prohibited. While the intent still does seem to be the same, I think the most sporting way of playing the deck is for threat reduction and card draw. I think even without resources, I prefer the deck with Council to without since there aren't any crucial cards to hit that require redundancy of multiple cards. The point about Council of the Wise and A Perilous Voyage is a rather funny loophole, but I do agree that in the face of uncertainty it would seem correct to assume the more challenging interpretation. In general the contracts seem to have mainly been created with the idea that they would predominantly be run alone given the significant threat cost to running multiple, not to mention deck-building constraints. |
i do ike the baseidea, i do not like the feels-like-cheating to negate the flaw of the one contract (saying no res from attachments from At the End of All Things) with another contract ( Council of the Wise using the resource-option)
imo, the (additional) readying with the help of wounds from At the End of All Things is cool and enough, because this way the 2 beloved heroes can ready 2 times in a round. that is big enough!!! (and cool) .
BUT i did not play these deck perhaqps it is not so much op as i thought it will be, but the principle, to avoid the flaw of one contract nearly completely by using another contract is imo not what it should be. its the same (for me) with e.g. Council of the Wise + A Perilous Voyage i think originally it was not desinged this way to easy go around the limitations of a contract (and i am not even talk about The Gifts of Galadriel + The Last Alliance....) .
i like the usage of 2 contracts but not to cancel the nerfs of another contract, i like things like Messenger of the King + another contract that alone gives maaaany options, The Grey Wanderer + Forth, The Three Hunters! would also not explode my understanding of the game, even The Grey Wanderer + Council of the Wise is o.k. for my taste, but using e.g 2 AleP-contracts or some tricky negate the flaws of other contratcs is not my taste, perhaps there are people out there who share my understanding of the game :) )
beside that, i like it very much, it is thematic it help to use some not so often used cards, and legolas-gimli are in the top of the fan-favoured.
