Designed for multiplayer scenarios with emphasis on engaging everything for better or worse.
The deck is designed to be an engagement magnet with a cool 37 starting threat. The premise is simple: Dunedain decks prefer to be engaged with numerous enemies, thus, it seemed simpler to have simplify engagement to having high enough threat for everything to engage this deck immediately while a partner deck sets up unhindered. The deck construction was also a bit of a headache since the deck wants to play 38 cards and a non-trivial amount of everything else, but what emerged is sample that can likely be optimized quite a bit further while maintaing the spirit of the deck. Éowyn wants to generally be questing with an exception being contributing significant damage against one of the stronger enemies that will presumably be attracted early. Ideally, she would have the Herugrim and Snowmane combination as well, but was another highly desired sphere for card inclusion. Thurindir provides a bit of an initial buffer against particularly demanding starting scenario quests, and should become increasingly useful as the game goes on, likely able to handle general questing needs with Eowyn. Fastred is mainly included to avoid losing on threat out and to provide a dedicated defender, despite some anti-synergy with the Dunedain core.
The Last Alliance usage is entirely situational, with the ideal targets being Descendants of Kings, Heir of Valandil, and Éomund. A particular desirable combination is Eomund with Gamling to functionally refresh all characters for attacks as often as possible (hence Steward of Gondor or Horn of Gondor makes the most sense on Fastred), and one in the starting hand is probably preferable. The deck has many weaknesses, from lackluster threat reduction comprised of Secret Vigil, Double Back, and Fastred, to the only healing being Dúnedain Remedy, to card draw consisting of Gléowine and Horn of the Mark. That being said, for the amount of breathing room this deck provides, those are all semantics that the partner deck should be able to handle. A final note, is that it would be rather ambitious to play this with a particularly low threat deck that already wouldn't draw much unwanted attention and likely has fewer means to really snowball when in tandem with this deck. Such a situation would most likely result in this deck losing first with the other following soon after.
