Discard Pile

This is a Rohan discard deck that makes double use of Thengel's mustering ability each round. I've been wanting to come up with a deck that actually could make proper use of Thengel getting to fire twice per round, and I think this deck finally cracks it.
Elendilmir provides the double tap on Thengel's ability, and Lothíriel and Prince Imrahil generate the means to trigger the ability.
You use The Riddle-game contract to put Elendilmir on Thengel at setup. Now he can use his muster ability twice per round, provided there are 2 allies discarded by effects in the round.
Mulligan for Nor am I a Stranger, but if you have Mighty Warrior in your starting hand, that's good enough for now and maybe worth keeping. Prioritize getting one of those two cards on Lothíriel first. Once she has a Nor am I a Stranger, you can put the next Nor am I a Stranger on Prince Imrahil. The goal here is get Lothíriel set up to match with at least some of the Rohan allies, if not all of them, very early. Most of the Rohan allies are warriors, so Imrahil is sitting pretty good turn 1, but it is still useful to get him the Rohan trait when you can.
Once that is in place, the ideal round looks something like this:
-
Quest with as many heroes as you need, but always at least Lothíriel. You can fairly safely YOLO quest because you can rely on Imrahil to grab a combat ally.
-
Per Lothíriel's ability, put a questing ally into play. Ideally one that has a discard ability that triggers from questing (Escort from Edoras or Westfold Lancer). If the ally has a discard effect that triggers before Lothíriel pulls it back, use it and trigger Thengel to muster an ally from deck. Use the normal Gamling and Squire of the Mark shenanigans to save the discarded ally from being discarded if you can.
-
In the combat phase, use Prince Imrahil's ability to summon an ally from deck. If it has an effect that can cause it to discard itself, use it (after making the ally useful against an enemy if possible). Trigger Thengel for a second time (per Elendilmir) to muster yet another ally from deck. Once again save the discarded ally with tricks if you can.
Thus for the cost of 1 tactics resource (spent for Prince Imrahil's ability), you have gotten a lot done this round:
- grabbed an extra questing ally
- grabbed an ally to help with combat
- mustered 2 allies into play exhausted, ready for next round
- possibly saved the 2 grabbed allies from being discarded if you have Gamling and/or Squire of the Mark in play
Which frees up your heroes and most of your resources to do whatever else is needed.
There is the not-so-small matter of The Riddle-game, however. It can be a problem. My suggestion is such it up and pay the discard cost whenever you are able, even if you lose a good card. It ain't worth risking losing that game.
As far as the rest of the deck, Snowmane and Golden Shield go on Thengel. Along with Golden Belt to free up space on Thengel for Horn of the Mark.
In terms of player experience, I find the deck really fun. The Riddle-game always keeps things tense. But at the same time you always feel kind of secure because of Lothíriel and Prince Imrahil being able to parachute in allies at key moments. Amd with the Thengel double tap, you can fill the board at an amazing rate.
As per usual, please let me know if I've broken any rules in this deck, and also provide feedback on what might make it better!
