blue wizardry at different paths

Description

so folks a deep deep into aleP-territory fellowship. i stole some ideas from others and combine it.

it might be a bit of a turteling-fellowship but is not helpless at the beginning. the strategy is to defend nearly everything with Beorn and let the others do the rest. for that the sidequests help a lot.

a big important question is to clarify: what about Beorn and At the End of All Things,my interpretation is:

  • becaue he is immune to playercardeffects, he does not get anything of the contract, no buffs no nerfs, so, that means, both start with 28 thread (he does not increase because its a playercardeffect) then, only Pallando get the bonus for attributs and only he get the additional sphere. the cardsearch after flipping is not modified by anyway an Beorn get no additional res.

many decisions to make even from the start:

  • use Rods of the Five or not? depends if you can reduce thread normally i would use it else depends
  • go superfast exploring of the first sidequest, or try a normal game. and if wich one first? (Gather Information or Keep Watch
  • you can fail quest up to 6 without increasing thread be aware of that
  • after flipping what cards to choose

little tricks:

some thoughts?

happy questing

You still have to pay the resource if you want the boost for You Cannot Pass!. Otherwise, this looks good! It's interesting to see you making a foray into ALeP! ;)

i like a decent use of AleP (and i was part of the team for a while) i usually no not like an overuse, but for tinkering it is a bit of variety ;) (i never know if i really want to play this fellowship) but right, paying for +3 but thats still good because it is an option ,the readying is free, and even without discarding it is an option to safely get a spell back doable every round (and with Blue Staff as additional draw possible)

i was not aware of this loop, i might perhaps reduce Power of Orthanc in the end i do not need so much spells. might be better perhaps replacing 2 Power of Orthanc with Explorer's Almanac or Entangling Nets

I think the +4 threat still applies to him, because it's a cost for to play the contract and not a player cardeffect on the hero.

Btw thank you for stealing parts of my Thurindir the blue.

The +4 threat isn't a cost of the contract, it's a player card effect to give the hero +4 threat. That's clear. The only point I'm not sure about is if you gain the sphere on your other hero or if that would count as "targeting" Beorn to achieve that. But on other points, Doomguard is correct.

Though note that damaging a hero is not a cost on side A, it's an effect from exhausting the contract. So you can choose to ready Pallando, even though Beorn won't be damaged by the contract.

i think u should get the sphere, because beorn is not targeted in any way. he has a sphere so it can be read. it does not affect beorn at all. would be different, if it says select a hero and give the sphere to the other hero (or something like that)

effect of exhausting the contract? yes but the contract is a playercard, right? i think in this case it is a direct effekt of the (player)card on beorn (giving him a damage) and if not paying the price u do not get the benefit (readying).

The contract is a player card. But damaging one of your heroes is not a cost. The cost is exhausting At the End of All Things. So you pay the cost (exhaust the contract) to do two things: damage one hero and ready the other. You then do as much of that effect as you can. So you could just damage Pallando if you want, but you can also ready him instead. In any case, it won't do anything to Beorn.

hm, can understand your position, that would even make it better. would be interesting if the creators of the contract wanted it to work this way.
