Deep Deep Knowledge - "why not start with 18 cards?"

Description

The three starting attachments of the GW decks are Song of Travel and 2x Song of Eärendil, all going onto Aragorn, giving that player +2 cards already. The player mulligan for a total of 5-6 copies of Deep Knowledge.

You all play these in the planning phase round 1, the Attack and Tank deck can play one copy with GW. The threat increase, that the Attack deck and Tank deck would get, are soaked up using Song of Eärendil. If you managed to play 5 copies, that deck is now at 42 threat (6 copies for 48 threat can also work, but risky). Throughout the round, it can soak up more and then go controlled from 49 to 12 threat at the end of round 1.

From then on: buff Gimli and Erkenbrand up to massive defense levels, let Glorfindel become an attack beast (3 attacks with Gimli's Ability and GW stand already) and let the Perilous Voyage deck spam allies with Vilya. Vilya is also the first pick from the Perilous Voyage flip, and second is Ancestral Armor.

nice idea, but i doubt that you regulary draw 5-6 Deep Knowledge specially with the A Perilous Voyage but perhaps with 3 Deep Knowledge it is also a playable fellowship. the idea to start with 2 Song of Eärendil and then reset with Aragorn 1. round is nice.

would perhaps consider some Legacy of Númenor at the Gimli-deck (imo getting 2 Deep Knowledge and 1 Legacy of Númenor is also a good start )

why Song of Travel for aragorn? can imagine that Song of Kings could be a consideration (and then include some Legacy of Númenor and perhaps some Dúnedain Wanderer and/or Rivendell Scout )

@doomguard the Song of Travel on Aragorn is neccessary, because otherwise he couldn't take the Song of Eärendil (it's for heroes only).

I decided against Legacy of Númenor to reach the most ridiculous draw levels with this. 3 of the decks only getting a single resource for 4 threat isn't worth it at all for me.

I usually don't have the problems with not finding enough Deep Knowledge, since the early played copies can find more copies on other players. From 3 to 5 should be working most times and the hard-mulligan finds you one with above 90% probability in each of the GW decks.

yea i did not think about the spirit-hero for Song of Eärendil and the default of Greyflood Wanderer only let you play/attach it, do not avoid the restrictions.

@ enough Deep Knowledge o.k. i misundestood you, i thought you said that you have 5-6 after mulligan, that is imo unlikely but get it over all after playing the, lets say 3 in hand 1. round, that you get up to your 5 with the additional draw in your 1. planning, that makes sense, but i did not read it out of the text (or did not regard that in my mind).

@legacy, i would think it is worth it for the Elrond -deck alone, i think it would makes your whole game at least a round faster.

another point, if you aim for efficiancy, it imo not needed to eat all the thread of the The Grey Wanderer-decks. let them go to lets say 17-18 and then you are still fine and can play more doomed cards. as long they stay in secrecy and you eat all threat from the Elrond-deck you are stil fine, and then there is imo even more room for Legacy of Númenor

another question, why do you take Gimli? i would think with Erkenbrand and Aragorn there is enough sentinel on the table. so i would think, Denethor would be more efficient. IF you want the ld-grey wanderer be a(THE) sentinel-deck, change it to Erkenbrand and go for Denethor at Elrond you win 2 threat at elrond, and 2 res from the start ((e.g. to play Vilya so using Denethor means a free Vilya 1. round you will very ikely draw it with this much cards)
