Yepesnopes 1241

This is a deck for those of you who are really control freaks :)

In the present form is a solo deck, but with the cards in the sideboard you can turn this deck into a support deck for any fellowship (exchange for example Scout Ahead for The Storm Comes).

Solo play

The deck revolves around the idea of controlling the encounter deck as much as possible. For this it is crucial to put Firyal in play as soon as possible, typically in round two or three the latest.

Mulligan for Light of Valinor or Resourceful and fetch Gather Information with Thurindir's ability. Play Gather Information and quest hard on it until you resolve it, get Firyal if you don't have it in your hand.

Once you have Firyal in play, combined with A Test of Will and the Halfling Bounder, you will have a lot of control on the encounter deck.

Resource generation is done through Resourceful. All of them have to go on your heroes. Play them even if you are out of secrecy, using the unspent resources from Glorfindel. The reason is because you want to generate as much resources as possible to trigger the ability of the Warden of Healing at will.

Combat is handled by Glorfindel, who is the recipient of the Legacy Blades, and with allies such as Treebeard and Quickbeam. Ent Draught goes on Treebeard for parrying and on Glorfindel to take some undefended attacks. Blocking is done with either Treebeard, or by chump blocking with allies like the Galadhrim Minstrel who you can bring back with Stand and Fight. In any case, don't be afraid of taking undefended attacks, your heroes have a decent health pool, and the deck has tons of healing thanks to the Warden of Healing an its insane ability which combines nicely with Resourceful.

Card drawing is done mainly Daeron's Runes and Gléowine. To be fully honest, I play with a 51 cards version of this deck where I do include a second Gléowine, he is just too good.

Threat reduction: I try to stay low in threat as much as possible to choose which enemy do I want to engage. Additionally, this deck needs some rounds before being able to handle enemies consistently. For this reason, the deck has Elrond's Counsel and Double Back.

In order to wrap up things, there is Asfaloth to control locations. While locations are typically not an issue in solo, in Nightmare mode they can be, and I have made this deck with the idea to handle Nightmare quests.

Finally, Will of the West is here to handle some quests that mess with your deck by forcing you to discard cards

I want to say, that I have mostly played this deck in solo with Mirlonde, the reason why is that for those quest that ask you to quest with , the extra attack from her as compared to Pippin can make a big difference on the initial rounds. Additionally, her extra hit point can, from time to time, soak an undefended attack from those enemies with 1 or 2 ; but if you are outside the Heirs of Numenor and the like, Pippin is the better option.

Multiplayer

I use this deck in a 4-player fellowship very successfully. For the fellowship I change Mirlonde for Pippin and Scout Ahead for The Storm Comes. During the set up, when the first round of hands have been drawn, before the mulligan, I decide which is the better side quest to get, Gather Information of The Storm Comes. I also remove Will of the West and Gléowine for two Burning brands, as on the fellowship we want to load Beregond with it as soon as possible. Notice that the lose of card drawing because of Gléowine is compensated by the introduction of Pippin.

In multiplayer, the role of the deck is mainly healing, questing and treachery cancellation. Nevertheless, you will also contribute in combat thanks to Glorfindel and the allies, and to location control with Asfaloth.

Enjoy and good gaming!

Just so you know, since you commit characters to the quest simultaneously, Firyal does not help you in determining how many characters to send on the quest.

Then I’ve played her wrong all the time. All the same.

If so, I have played her wrong all the time. Where does it say that characters are commited simultaniously?

You are right.
