This deck was derived from my Second Breakfast challenge #23 deck, but without the restriction of having no attachments and without trying to line it up for the riddles in that challenge. It’s not the best deck ever but highly thematic in that it attempts to recreate the company of Thorin Oakenshield, featuring all 13 dwarves, Gandalf, and Bilbo. Consider it a win if you get all of them on the table at once! In my playthrough I recorded, I had all but Bifur on the table (with Bilbo not being present in the deck as I was playing Hobbit saga).

Now you might be saying “Hey! there is only 12 dwarves here.” Sadly, I was unable to come up with a way to get all 13 members of Thorin’s party onto the table all at once (I probably didn’t exhaust all possibilities but even if there is a way, I don’t think it would be a playable deck). Thus, I have provided Longbeard Map-Maker as a stand-in for Oin. So if playing this deck I BETTER NOT SEE TWO LONGBEARDS ON THE TABLE!!! (It is a well known fact that the dwarves of Middle Earth lack cloning technology).

Your biggest key will be to get “The storm Comes” (Unfortunately pretty much the only card in here to break continuity is the most essential card) into the victory display ASAP for obvious reasons. Look for it (or gather information to pull it) and hopefully 2-3 of Thorin’s company in your starting hand. Then, happily play the company out, one by one. If you want, play with an alternate win condition that if all 15 characters are under your control at the same time, you automatically become an unstoppable force that eviscerates literally everything that dares stand in your way, leaving the most ferocious wake of destruction in your iron trod path, because…um…friendship…I guess (I knew there was a deck that could beat “The Black Gate Opens”). That’s about all there is to it. I don’t recommend playing this against any quest without orcs or at least a player across the table who can manage your threat. Make no mistake, Sauron sees you as a massive threat right off the bat and will try to crush you into a pit of despair and hopelessness very quickly. But you are better than that, so just, go kill some orcs instead. You’ll seem less threatening to him then. Just do it. It will be fun. I’ll wait…

I don't see Oin.

There is a Spirit ally version of Dwalin, so you would be able to have Óin as your Spirit hero!

Fair enough, I had forgotten about that. But I had also resolved that if it was going to be a bond of friendship deck, I needed hero Dwalin to make it work. Otherwise you pretty much guarantee a loss from the start with an incredibly high starting threat.

My BoF dwarves start at 42, haha! I use Favor of the Valar and Secret Vigil (in multiplayer), which would also work in your deck - plus you've got Gandalf!

That’s true. I suppose it’s maybe a play style thing. I don’t like being on the edge with my threat. If my starting threat is anywhere near 40, I need to have a way to control it that doesn’t rely on pulling a card from my deck. Who knows, maybe I’ll make a version with all 13 yet but for now, I’m okay with representing Oin with Longbeard.

with Nori you can reduce thread by every dwarf you play and can keep good ally Dwalin
