curiousboss has a newer deck inspired by this one: Bastards of Thorondor

In this deck, I explore the combo Hirgon + Descendant of Thorondor ; Hirgon's ability gives a much better timing to the Descendant enter play effect than normal. I have tried many different decks around this theme (like Argalad / Hirgon / Thalin). This one begins with a horrid Threat but plays really fast, drawing the entire deck in about 5 turns. At the end of it, you have huge pumped up eagles and lots of action advantage. The combo itself is nothing truly spectacular, I'm sharing it anyways so you can find better ways.

Could put Asfaloth for some more "questing".

Fun deck. It really does draw like crazy! I played a few games with it and featured it on my blog: lotrdecktest.wordpress.com

Thanks!

I tried this deck against Escape from Umbar and crushed it. Very nice deck, and quite disgusting when you have Support of the Eagles on Gandalf with multiple readies! I agree with Joe's opinion that another Unexpected Courage would be better than Narya. Also, in my game I got Light of Valinor attached to Elrond on turn 1 and it was very helpful, so I might be tempted to go up to two copies of that and drop the 1 Heed the Dream.

Thank you ! @FolcoBoffin: No space for an Asfaloth (that would only work as a 1-progress/round anyway), if you're worried about location control just add a pair of Northern Trackers.
Concerning Narya : When I have a Descendant of Thorondor in play, and no enemies in the staging area, I quest with that Descendant. Then if an enemy pops up, I can untap the Descendant and the big Eagle of the Misty Mountain, I get to block with the descendant, which gets killed and pumps the EMM even more. It is also useful in multiplayer. But I agree that it is superfluous in most instances and Narya could be cut out. It is actually a fossile of a previous version of this deck where I played a few Leadership cards (like Sneak Attack). But I agree the third Unexpected Courage would be more useful. I just happen to only have 2 core sets so 2 Unexpected Courage it is, unless playing on OCTGN.

Anyways, thanks a lot for your feedback, I think I can do better on the next iteration. Maybe play 3 Well Warned and see where it goes.

New) version available, taking your feedback into account (and I can't thank you enough). It's leaner with better questing.

@curiousboss I livestreamed a game with this deck over the weekend with @The BGamerJoe. www.youtube.com

I know you have an updated build but I played this version with: -1 Narya, -1 Light of Valinor, -1 Heed the Dream +1 Gandalf's Staff, +1 Warden of Healing, +1 Unexpected Courage. Thanks again for posting this great deck.
