This is the deck I used to beat the Long Dark solo, progression style. At first I was using a much more support style deck, to some success, but realized I was using a wrong encounter set with much fewer enemies, so switched to this one.
Good cards to see in your opening hand are Test of Will, threat reduction, and some way of nuking enemies.
There's not much card draw in the deck, so try to avoid or cancel Locate Tests. Thalin is your main defender with Ever My Heart Rises and Arwen's boost, but hopefully with all of those nice Tactics cards, you won't ever have to actually defend an attack (the only attack I took in the test run was from a first turn Goblin Follower)! If something does get through your direct damage shenanigans and low threat, Gondorian Spearman, Vassal of the Windlord, and Winged Guardian are all good emergency defenders.
This deck was obviously built with the Long Dark in mind, but it does surprisingly well against other quests, like JdtA, which I beat on the first try with this deck.
