Mablung and the other Gondorians will be the main defenders, and will be much more useful when they can be equipped wit Gondorian Shield and Spear of the Citadel. Behind Strong Walls and Gondorian Discipline will help greatly as well. Winged Guardian will be an excellent defender, too.
Beorn can soak up damage if necessary, and Landroval will be there to revive him if he is lost.
Hobbit Pony will allow Fatty to stay unexhausted and use his ability and commit to the quest at the end of the quest phase if necessary.
