No advice is given for this deck at all. For example, who should be made prisoner? Who should get what attachments? Use this deck at your own risk!

The prisoner is randomly selected, you don't get to choose: s3.amazonaws.com

Honestly, this is the toughest scenario in the entire game, and I'm talking about every single expansion and adventure pack they released so far. It's exceptionally foolish for FFG to release such a scenario right away in the first release. Many people have actually gotten disgusted with the game because of it, and the scenario is nothing more than a cash grab to get people to buy more expansions or another core set just to get better cards in the hopes of beating it. Really pathetic. Even on Easy mode this is difficult. The best thing to do is choose the hero yourself, play on Easy mode, do unlimited mulligans until you get the starting hand you want, and make sure that the 3 encounter cards that guard the objectives have at least 1 Treachery. No other way to do it. A scathing email also just went out to FFG admonishing them for putting out such a garbage, game-breaking, cash-grab scenario early in the series.

@pd187540 I think you are being a bit harsh. First of all if all three quests in the core set was reasonably easily beatable FFG would take a beating for it being too easy. We'd then read all about how FFG better up their game and make it more difficult for the serious gamer. I think they got a good mix of easy, intermediate and difficult in the base to cover all level of gamers.

Secondly remember that FFG is a company with the purpose of making money. They do this by striking a balance between what the customer want (always more), doing it at as low a price as possible and doing justice to source material and thus making the people happy that provide them the rights to expand the game further. The wonderous thing is then that you can choose not to support their products further.

Beorn, great series and blog. I enjoy it very much and it really helped me into this awesome and challenging game!

@pd187540 you're 100% correct when it comes to the poor game design and the likely reason for FFG doing so.
