Flies and Spiders - Progression
Description
Stage 1 - Questing player gets 2 Dwarf allies in play and Bilbo's Magic Ring out ASAP. Priorities are getting Light of Valinor and (if possible) Asfaloth on Glorfindel, Unexpected Courage and (if possible) Dwarrowdelf Axe and/or Steward of Gondor on Thorin. Try to get Durin's Song, King Under the Mountain, and hopefully Unexpected Courage on Thalin. Get your ally armies built up on both sides of the table, with a heavier emphasis on the Combat player. Landroval on the table would be really nice so you can soak up Spider damage with no poison attachments with Beorn. Try to keep Fili in your hand until Stage 2, and same with Gandalf (especially with Sneak Attack). Don't complete the stage until Bilbo is with the Questing player (use his resources on a Gandalf before Stage 2 if you can to lower threat). NOTE I did not play with the 3 treasures from OHaUH because these hero lineups are both different from those quest's hero lineups.
Stage 3/4 - Immediately revive Thorin using the Ring. If you have Unexpected Courage and Steward on Thorin you should be in good shape. Next Revive Dain, then probably Ori (unless you have a Warden to revive and you need healing ASAP). This is the time to play Fili to also get Kili into play ASAP. Beorn will soak damage for the Combat player, and especially if Landroval is still in play, don't be afraid to use him liberally. Whenever you are going to finish Stage 3, make sure Bilbo is ready and Stage 4 does not have an active location if possible.
If you have Faramir at this point once the players are reunited, and can also get Gandalf out, you've practically got this won as you will be able to exhaust Bilbo to travel to Spider's Glade immediately, then the next turn or maybe 2 you should be able to make a big quest push for the win.
