The Path Less Traveled Saga Campaign: A Shadow of the Past 2

Inkling 70

Description

I have decided to start a variant on the Saga Campaign. Personally, I felt the strict hero requirements for the majority of the official saga campaign to be more frustrating than fun. My main goal is to balance theme with overall fun for playing each of the quests in the saga all while using as many new cards and archetypes as possible.

2p fellowships will be set up so that one main deck is more strict to the theme of the quest and the other deck is more for support in which it creatively follows theme to some extent but also focuses on trying out new cards and archetypes.

For the first quest I felt the theme is to clearly be as sneaky as possible and avoid combat as much as possible.

The main deck for this is the standard trisphere hobbit deck. The support deck focuses on maintaining the theme of minimal combat through secrecy but also through victory display and encounter deck manipulation. I imagine Fatty and Folco and their hobbit friends being joined by Rossiel and a few silvans to help Merry, Pippin and Sam get to the Buckleberry Ferry!

The VD support deck can completely manipulate the encounter deck to not only avoid combat but also avoid locations and treacheries as you see fit!

The burglar's turn contract was added since the VD deck has no attachments in it. I used thematic cards for the burglar's turn which also keeps it from being overpowered (thematic as in maintaining goal of secrecy, manipulation and limited attacking, not following the actual storyline).

The victory display deck allows for tons of options on how you play. I had games where I removed ALL of the dark riders by stage 2 and I could ignore hide tests altogether until round 3 for location control (I also had the condition treachery card in VD and door is closed ready to cancel it as to avoid losing heros when failed hide tests on purpose). The victory display archetype is pretty well fleshed out now and can be very strong and fun to play as a support deck.
