A Path Less Travelled: Breaking of the Fellowship

Inkling 70

Description

I have decided to start a variant on the Saga Campaign. Personally, I felt the strict hero requirements for the majority of the official saga campaign to be more frustrating than fun. My main goal is to balance theme with overall fun for playing each of the quests in the saga all while using as many new cards and archetypes as possible.

2p fellowships will be set up so that one main deck is more strict to the theme of the quest and the other deck is more for support in which it creatively follows theme to some extent but also focuses on trying out new cards and archetypes.

Standard trisphere hobbits hero deck had to have some cards changed up since only allies were non-hobbits (boromir, galadriel and elrond to fit the theme a bit). Boromir ally is soooo good! Never used before but man is he a great ally! Sting boon attachment is really fun on Sam (when it doesn't whiff).

The three hunters deck I finally got around to trying the spirit legolas/leadership gimli combo. I did NOT like it at first, but it did grow on me. I found it didn't really get running well until Gimli was beefed up enough to not take damage and use days rising for resource acceleration AND legolas had elven light and light of valinor so that a different hero could be readied by Gimli. Lots of parts to get in play but once they were the combo sang really well.

Hunting party card WHIFFED EVERY time! I simply replaced an enemy with another emey EVERY time I used this card (at least 5 times). So frustrating.

Altogether these decks won well over 50% of the time. Main issues were damage control from archery early on (prior to flipping hunters contract OR killing hobbits once staging areas were separated and Frodo no longer around to cancel cards).

First third of the saga in the books. On to the quests from the second book...
