Journey in the Dark progression - Vengeance of the Dwarves

Description

A non campaign fellowship to tackle Journey in the Dark.

This is mostly the good old dwarven swarm which I find thematic for this quest, with one very important non-thematic twist in the form of Blood of Númenor + Gondorian Fire that can go on Dáin once he gains Steward of Gondor (with an Unexpected Courage, he can then even defend two Balrog's attacks on a turn).

I use the Black Riders' fellowship version of Frodo as he helps a lot here. In the case you use haven't used his ability, you can always give his resource to Bifur. The Blue Mountain Trader is excellent for smoothing resources between the two decks and can also be helpful for getting Frodo's resources elsewhere.

The strategy is simple - quest hard on the first stage, get rid of the necessary number of enemies on the second stage and use buffed Dáin / chumps to defend Balrog on the last stage, before you can attack back and then sacrifice someone (for me, it was always Nori) to get rid of the demon completely.

There is quite a few shadow effects discarding your attachments, which is why I got rid of the initially included Citadel Plate. Don't hesitate to discard Cram/Ever My Heart Rises/weapons when this happens, the most important thing is to keep the Steward+Blood of Númenor+Unexpected Courage combo alive.

Mulligan for Steward of Gondor or cheap dwarves
