Expert Hunters of the North
Description
Ranger Danger
This is a classic Dunedain deck that is to be combined with "Trapper Slapper," which provides the necessary traps and card draw for "Ranger Danger."
The strategy is simple and does not take long to set up. Engage enemies, trap a couple of them, destroy or Ranger Spikes the others, and then quest to victory.
At the start of the game, mulligan for Steward of Gondor or Tighten Our Belts to begin resource acceleration. Steward of Gondor and Gondorian Shield go on Amarthiúl. Engage enemies and your partner playing "Trapper Slapper" will slap down Forest Snare on them to trigger your Dunedain's special abilities. Sword that was Broken and Faramir provide more than enough willpower for questing. Aragorn and his brethren are more than capable of destroying all foes, and having fun while do it. With Unexpected Courage and Descendants of Kings, I have destroyed more than five enemies in one turn, but only had to defend two attacks since a few of them were in the staging area at the beginning of the combat phase.
Trapper Slapper
This is the companion deck to "Ranger Danger," providing the necessary traps and card draw for it.
Use Galdor of the Havens to discard cards at the beginning of the game for a Forest Snare or Master of the Forge. Unexpected Courage goes on either Aragorn or Amarthiúl and Wingfoot goes on Aragorn. Use Arwen Undómiel to provide resources for either herself, Galdor of the Havens, or across the table on Aragorn.
Do not be reluctant to discard cards from your hand in order to use Galdor of the Havens second ability early in the game to draw an additional six cards. Lindon Navigator can help discard cards while providing questing and chump-blocking capabilities. A couple copies of the new attachment Explorer's Almanac, which can be combined with The Evening Star, were thrown in to help with location build up in the staging area. Will of the West, Anborn, and Erebor Hammersmith are there to recycle discarded cards when necessary.
Happy questing peoples of Middle-earth - may you farewell wherever you fare till your eyries receive you at the journey's end!
