The Watcher in the Water - Progression - The Watcher Edition

This fellowship, as opposed to my other posting, is designed for completing the victory condition wherein you defeat the watcher. These decks are combat focused (Door of Durin edition focuses on card draw and scrying effects). The main goal is to buff up Gimli, get him more health with citadel plate and get some damage on him so he can swing for a bunch. When we played through we were lucky to be able to engage the watcher when we wanted to as we had cleared all tentacles from play and none came off in staging. Gimli was swinging for a bunch and I had Feint, Durin's Song and Khazad Khazad to stop the watcher's attack and buff Gimli even more. Legolas helped too with a Rivendell Blade to lower the defense. Really the main problem we had was threat with all the Doomed 5, and actually the turn after we killed the watcher, we still needed 3 progress to beat Quest Phase 2b and my threat hit 50 (eliminating my side of the board) during staging, however, Katherine had plenty on her board to quest heavy and get the last of the progress for the win. We didn't end up needing it but there is also Sneak Attack and Gandalf in both decks for additional means to circumvent the watcher's defense and apply damage. Really fun to beat this one by killing the watcher !
