this deck play save the Eagles of the Misty Mountains whenever i played an eagledeck ts a kind of gambling, when you can get out an Eagles of the Misty Mountains , who for me is the core for an eagle-deck.

with the new Widfast its easily save possible 1. round.

search with her ability for an Eagles of the Misty Mountains and play it for cost of 2. that woukld be possible with many characters (need either 2 tacticheroes or radagast + 1 tactic)

i choose (MotK) Meneldor because:

  • i have an unique eagle, so Gwaihir's Debt can be played from the start
  • my thread is low for an eagledeck
  • decent questing (together with 6 1. round)

if playing without Gwaihir's Debt replace (MotK) Meneldor with Éowyn or another tactic-heroe, that gives you the benefit to play meneldor as an ally and get locationcontrol.

it is more a multiplayerdeck, in solo Widfast ability for a 2. active location seems not so necessary.

playing advice:

nothing special:

  • mulligan for the staff
  • try to play Gwaihir's Debt soon and before using The Eagles Are Coming! to increase chances for optimal use, or with pipe
  • if possible use Word of Command after questing if you played an eagle this round
  • use her ability if you have no test of will in your hand

its a straight foreward deck without to much shenanigans and save start, perhaps not absolute high-end, but very solid and can take part in every multiplayer round (replace arwen is needed). because there are many eagles that can quest for 2 it has some flexibility.

I was wondering when I would see some Widfast decks with Eagles of the Misty Mountains. This looks like a solid one.

I understand that you want (MotK) Meneldor so you can play Gwaihir's Debt early - but I guess you could run Éowyn as you suggest (though she's quite likely taken in multiplayer) and run 3x Meneldor and 3x Eagles of the Misty Mountains and mulligan for either one. It would be a pretty high chance of success to find 1 of 6 cards with a mulligan. Then use Widfast to grab the one you didn't find.

its a matter o taste. with my configuration i can theoretically, having staff and debt in the startinghand, put the Eagles of the Misty Mountains and a debted in gandalf 1. turn. that seems a wonderfull start and is not possible with a non-eagle-hero. and with Word of Command it is not soo unlikely.
