Ideal (but definitely feasible) first turn:

This is a very fun deck, with lots of decisions to make every turn. Kudos to the ALeP team for the new cards -- especially the two eagle events -- that enable a strong (but not OP) deck.

Mostly a standard Radagast's eagles build, but with Thengel for ally acceleration. The goal is to use your 10 "discard" allies to cheat the expensive eagles (and bears) into play.

In addition to his acceleration, I've found that Thengel's 3 is very helpful in the early game. Questing for 9 on turn 1 is amazing. As an added bonus, many encounter cards make you discard an ally. With Thengel, these can easily become a net positive.

Mulligan for the Staff, and keep basically any hand that has it.

Have you tried a Wizard Pipe to guarantee a big ally hit the table ?

@Emmental I considered it, but it hasn't been necessary. With the Staff, I've been able to play any big creatures that I draw quickly enough. Given the marginal benefit, I didn't want to prune other cards.

Having said that, it is certainly an option. If you go that route, Messenger Raven is tempting. But again here, I've found that I'm rarely lacking for allies to play. Especially since the 3 eagle events all can be drawn via The Eagles Are Coming.

Having now played this deck quite a few times against multiple quests, I have to say that it is A LOT OF FUN!!!!!

The definite highlight was spending just 2 to remove 2 indestructible(!) Gang of Ruffians from the staging area in one turn. Accomplished by having 2 Flight of the Eagles and Wilyador in my hand, and a very conveniently empty encounter deck. That's 4, 8, and 8 of enemy gone per resource, plus 2 very respectable allies to boot.
