Christopyre 2
Even though Thurindir plays a big role in this hero line up, you don't need to complete the side quest right away if you are tackling a scenario that requires immediate progress. Steward of Gondor &/or Elf-friend along with a single Southron Refugee can throw down a unique Harad ally with ease. Northern Tracker into a Dunedain Pathfinder is surprisingly effective mid game play. The events package supports the pathfinders & Arwen Undómiel, leaving just healing being my only concern. With my current cardpool & trying out a few options, Athelas was a solid choice as a few allies along with Thurindir can hold it. The only downside being that it isn't repeatable but once Kahliel's Headdress is on the table, loosing a Jubayr isn't such a big deal.
A note on Halfast Gamgee being in the list: earlier versions leaned far more into side quest territory, but once you have completed The Storm Comes I found that he was great for essentially "moving" a resource to Kahliel. He is a soild quester when paying 2 for him & since I often run through both the Angmar Awakened & Harad cycles, the amount of side quests I see means he only costs 1. A singleton feels correct & when I don't need him he is an easy pitch to Arwen Undómiel.
